Rent a car in NJ and you pay a 5% Homeland Security tax that you don’t pay if you rent a car in Pennsylvania.
Exactly. Unfortunately, this speaks more ill of the federal government than it does of NJ, because the fedgov is doing this and New Jersey isn’t (yet).
64 years old. Have a six figure job that pays me to have fun. Single, but 4 kids, 11 grand kids. Live in a lily white enclave, conservative county, nearby hunting/shooting. My county issues CCW permits. Did I mention the weather?
Anyone planning on escaping their slave state better get going. Pretty soo the state’s will have laws that prevent high income earners from leaving.
They could build a wall like the one they had in Berlin.
The Transfer Inheritance Tax rates depend on the amount received and the relationship between the decedent and the beneficiary. No tax is imposed on class A beneficiaries (father, mother, grandparents, descendants, spouses, civil union partners, or domestic partners). Class C beneficiaries (brother or sister of decedent; husband, wife, or widow(er) of a child of decedent; civil union partner or surviving civil union partner of a child of decedent) are taxed at 11%16%, with the first $25,000 exempt. Class D beneficiaries (not otherwise classified) are taxed at 15%16%, with no tax on transfers having an aggregate value of less than $500. Charitable institutions are exempt from tax.
And that's after a $675,000 exclusion.

Excellent! Much more efficient than Directive 10-289.
The information that I had came from my well-heeled relative who no doubt is staring at very high estate tax rates. As such, he is looking to move to Florida, where there is no estate tax.
But the info you have provided is more meaningful to the rest of us ordinary folks.
Thank you for the clarification, and the classy way that you presented it.
How does any person living & working in New Jersey handle a job transfer? A company can ask a person to move anywhere else at any time.
Penalizing a person or a company for moving should not be legal. Is anyone challenging this NJ law in any court? Needs to happen.
Extortion at the least.
