Reducing 1.2 tonnes of CO₂ on the EU emissions trading system costs £5; but instead, the UK Government subsidises each car with £4,500. All of the world’s electric cars sold so far have soaked up £9 billion in subsidies, yet will only save 3.3 million tonnes of CO₂. This will reduce world temperatures by 0.00001°C in 2100 – the equivalent of postponing global warming by about 30 minutes at the end of the century.
Electric cars will be a good idea, once they can compete – which will probably be by 2032. But it is daft to waste billions of pounds of public money on rich people’s playthings that kill more people through air pollution while barely affecting carbon emissions. The Tesla 3 is indeed a “zero emissions” marvel – but that is only because it does not yet exist.

Musk has proven (again) that selling horses*** and calling it renewable organic energy will fool the masses, earn riches for him and draw praise from legions of fools in government including the Alpha Fool Barack Obama.
I reserved a tesla model 3, not because it will save the environment but because its a great car
could care less about saving the planet.
But I would like the convince of just plugging the car I only use around town in at night instead of having to stop at a gas station, and if I save a few bucks in the process, that’s a bonus.

Not because I believe in man made global warming, and certainly not because I believe in electric cars as the solution to oil consumption. Not in the least.
To me it's the coolness factor, combined with I simply cannot find what I'd consider to be an "acceptable" vehicle within the same price range as a Tesla Model 3.
I don't like the BMW's, Mercedes Benz or Audi's that are at the same price point. They lack the features, technology and IMO craftsmanship of the Tesla, IMO. I like what Elon Musk is doing, I'm a technology innovation geek and simply stated, I just like the vehicle over anything else in that price range.
It fits my limited driving range needs, is comfortable, is in my price range and I can afford it, so why not?
BTW, the folks who are "subsidizing" the vehicle are those who purchased the Model S and taxpayers like ME who've been paying into the Federal Behemoth for 30+ years and never gotten a single dime of my tax money back.
If you want to complain about the tax credit I get for buying it, go right ahead. That's MY MONEY and I want it back.

But it doesn’t exist and won’t for at least a couple of years. I like SpaceX, but I am suspicious of Tesla. Everything Musk does with Tesla relates not to customers, but to tax breaks. If you doubt this, look at his announcement of his battery replacement stations. They are complete vaporware designed to qualify for tax incentives. Now he announces a car two years before anyone can buy it. Why announce more vaporware? Is he going to do a secondary stock offering?
Sure it’s your money. But you are getting back your money and lots of other people’s, too. That’s how subsidies work.
As I said, I've paid into the Federal behemoth for 30+ years and NEVER gotten a single dime of my money BACK.
That's MY money. Not yours, not anyone elses. It's high freaking time I got some of it back too for the hundreds of thousands of dollars I've paid the thieving bastards.

Why do you think so? 200 mile range in a sedan for $35k seems very competitive. Have 4 friends who aren’t rich that already reserved.
Only the few people who frequently take very long trips won’t like it (like me)
It’s not just the range on a charge, it’s the recharge time as well..........................
I have one question for the gallery. My simple test for any mode of transportation is this. Can you drive a Tesla from NYC to Tampa FL. within a 24 hour limit, running clock.
It should be noted that 200 mile range is on a test track in California early in the morning
Try and see how far you get in New York in winter with the heat on or in summer when you need the AC
There’s also the lithium mining step (for the batteries).
The Tesla is an 85kWh battery, meaning 85 horse power for 1 hour, or 160hp for 30 minutes. That’s it. People think they will drive around the world on such a thing.
