Ryan is the fresh face they have in mind.

The Cheap Labor Express is determined we will not be allowed to elect anyone who stops them.

I remember about 2010 or 2011 Rove on BOR was advocating that the gop nominate a boring candidate in 2012. His theory was that by then people will be tired of the 0bama flash, and be ready for a stable, steady, boring candidate. Well, we nominated the boring Romney, how’d that work out for us? I suppose this time around Rove would want to nominate the boring Ryan or Kasich to go against the “flashy” Clinton.

If the GOP tries to stab Trump in the back, they'll be signing their own political death warrant because Trump will still win and here's why:

Karl is right for a change

He said a fresh face, not a sneaky looking smirkin' face.

It’s remarkable to look back over eight years of Bush and Karl Rove as part of the Bush-legacy, and believe that anything really worked right or is worth bragging about.

There is no chance Ted gets 1237.
There is no chance that the GOP will manipulate the
convention to hand Ted the nominatiion.

Ted’s assigned role is to block Trump so that Jeb or Mitt can be the nominee.

EXACTLY RIGHT.

The trick is getting the delusional Cruz camp to shake off the fantasy that their boy actually has a shot at the nomination and that the GOP is engaging in nothing but a head fake.

They're going to dump Cruz like a week old mackerel.

Naw, Mitt isn’t going anywhere...neither is Bush, his name is toxic in politics...why would they choose either of those two, when Kasich is waiting in the wings, with actual delegates in his column and a state primary victory under his belt...?

The GOP can do as they please. If either Ted Cruz or Donald Trump's name is not in the President slot, Trump would be my first choice because of all those in the Establishment that hate him. However, I would reluctantly vote for Cruz. Should the GOP decide to put someone else in the President slot, fine, I will write in Donald's name. Let the GOP and Hillary fight it out. I have talked with many people who feel the same way. We will not vote for the Establishment Candidate whether it be Mitt, Kasich, Jeb, or the man in the moon.

Somebody help me out here.

The vast majority of delegates who convene is Cleveland are going to be representing Cruz or Trump. How, exactly, are they to be neutralized under this Rove plan?

I am not understanding how that is suppoed to work.

That's brilliant!

What the rovians still don't understand is that Trump is like a Chinese finger trap; the harder they fight against him the stronger he gets.

His greatest selling point is their antipathy.

What makes anyone think that delegates pledged to Trump and Cruz are going to roll over? I don't understand the nuts and bolts of how Rove proposes to nominate a "fresh face."

"I am not understanding how that is supposed to work."

Most of the delegates are party hacks and after the first vote can switch their vote to whomever.

Yep.

The GOP nominee will not be Trump or Cruz, but someone like Paul Ryan.

IMHO, that will the end the GOP and the end of the Republic. The ‘Pubbies will not only lose the presidency, but the House and Senate, too. Hillary! will be able to get whatever she wants.

Rove is just sending up a trail balloon to see how much fire it takes. He is also giving the insiders their talking points. It's OK talk about not nominating Trump or Cruz, we need a fresh face to beat Hillary.

Cruz is doing the GOPe dirty work by constantly attacking Trump. Cruzs job is to drive Trumps negatives so high that he becomes unelectable thus allowing a contested convention to select a "fresh face". Ted Cruz has gone over to the dark side and now sides with Mitt Romney, Paul Ryan, Lindsey Gram, Carly Fiorina, Jeb Bush, Golden Sacs and the entire GOPe mega donor class.

The interesting question is why? After spending two years in the Senate pretending to be a conservative. Why do this one eighty and hop in bed with the GOPe? Was Cruz black mailed? Or was Cruz promised the VP spot? I'm going with the VP spot for now. But considering the mistress allegations black mailed is a real possibility. The only other explanations is that we are now seeing the real Ted Cruz and it is not a pretty picture.

Delegates are mostly picked at state conventions by the state party bosses. So anything is possible at a contested convention. Just because a delegate is pledged to vote Trump or Cruz on the first ballot does not mean they can’t Vote Paul Ryan on the second, third, etc. The trick is to get delegates loyal to you (you as in, Trump, Cruz) picked at the state convention.
