Some cool drone footage by Youtuber Jersey Drone of ships left abandoned at Staten Islands Arthur Kill ship graveyard, eerily located on the Arthur Kill channel separating New York and New Jersey.

The Staten Island boat graveyard is a marine scrapyard located in the Arthur Kill in Rossville, near the Fresh Kills Landfill on the northern shore of Staten Island, New York.
The place has been recognized as an official dumping ground for old wrecked tugboats, barges and decommissioned ferries.
It is known by many other names including the Witte Marine Scrap Yard, the Arthur Kill Boat Yard, and the “Tugboat Graveyard.”
Its official name as of 2014 is the Donjon Iron and Metal Scrap Processing Facility.

What the heck is that thing at 3:55?
cool
Great video... And they could probably get most of those boats cleaned up, just put out the rumor that there is copper wire and bronze on board them, and I betcha they’d all be stolen within days.
Don’t ask me how they’ll steal them - still haven’t figured out how they tore off the plaque from a local monument - the bolts were behind the bronze plaque. Or how they stole the bronze statue from in front of the sheriff’s station.
Saved for pc viewing so i dont eat up my gigs watching on my phone.
Yes. I spend time at gcaptain too. It’s where I go to get away from the mud slinging, and outrageous commentary here. Other than that I have some youtube stuff I go to.
I’ll never quit FR, and with a FReepathon coming up am warming up the checkbook, but a little escape now and then is in order during these election cycles if only for ones sanity.
Thanks,very interesting Video.
Never would have known about this website if not for FR, good stuff... and yes, we need a break from the high octane stupid now and then.
That oughta buff right out.
Not exactly a hot spot for fishing. I’d hesitate about eating anything out of those waters. Sadly I seem to recognize one of the smaller ferries they used to go to the Amboys back in the 40’s. Too think my grandfather bought property under the Outerbridge on the SI side and lost it due to taxes. The SI I knew is long gone.
For, All flesh is like grass, And all its glory like the flower of grass. The grass withers, And the flower falls off, But the word of the Lord endures forever.
And this is the word which was preached to you.
I grew up on the Arthur Kill in Carteret, NJ. Lots of stories.
I was born in Perth Amboy hospital.
Nice post. Agreed. It’s good to get away from FReeper Civil War
That Scapa Flow site is great. I had no idea how much of the scuttled german fleet had been salvaged for scrap — amazing.
The armistice was nigh but the details were still being worked out. The German warships were instructed to report to Scapa Flow. They were manned by their German crews for months while they waited for the final draft. In the meantime, the Germans came up with a plan to scuttle all the ships on the same night. The naval aspect of WWI was fascinating with Winston Churchill playing a huge role.
