No way Jose. Paul Ryan is wildly unpopular with the base. I just donated to the guy who is primarying him.

> “The GOP-E is not a monolithic entity, even if that acronym is used by many as if it were. The party “establishment” consists of thousands of people, mostly elected officials at the federal, state, and local level.”

The GOPe is less than a dozen insiders that control the money spigots of K-Street and they fund all their selected minions.

All the elected officials who are said to not be part of the GOPe, it depends on where most of their funding comes from. The ones who wish to stay in politics and that are funded by GOPe insiders have no choice but to be supporters of the GOPe and must tow the GOPe line, else they will be cut off and thrown out.

Like gravity is a fact in physics, the predominant fact of politics is that ‘Money is the Mother’s Milk of Politics’.

Trump threatens GOPe control of the GOP rank and file and he threatens their ongoing corruption. It is no surprise at all that they have pulled out all the stops on him including exposing that they are just as nasty and criminal as the democrats.

I agree. I for one am totally disgusted with the last two candidates we were asked to vote for and with what the GOP has been doing in the Senate. They screw Trump, I’m taking it very personally.

Sorry, the GOPe has already lost the last two presidential elections. The third time would not be the charm, it would be the end, at least the end of the GOP as we know it.

The Democrats lost three in a row - '80, '84, '88. They then came back and won four of the next six.

I think Trump supporters vastly overestimate the strength of their "movement" beyond the Presidential context. It really isn't a movement at all. Trump has no other candidates running with him on the local, state, or federal level. He's a one man show. And while I'm sure his most core supporters might do whatever his bidding is, I'd bet most of them would still vote for the same candidates they would otherwise, particularly when the general election campaign heats up and issues like the Supreme Court, the Second Amendment, immigration, and terrorism are front and center.

Then you're not using the same definition as virtually everyone else, because I've heard a hell of a lot more than just twelve people referred to as "GOP-E".

I'd add that if the "GOP-E' was as monolithic and all-powerful as you claim, we'd see party-line votes on every single issue. We clearly do not. There are all sorts of splits constantly.

Maybe he told them if he is president he will appoint Cruz to the Supreme Court and get him out of their hair....lol

Otherwise Cruz will be running every four years and giving them grief.

Then who would they force on him? Im not stuck on Ryan but i am pretty sure that’s the tactic they’ll use.

Note that the GOP has only won the popular vote in the presidential election only once since 1988.

That’s a long time.

GOPe met with rich Dem donors, to collude against Trump, for a Hillary presidency.

See:

Not so sure. It could be that he dropped the hammer on them.

Not so much “let’s get together now, ummm, yeah”. More like, “stop this BS or (hammer drops)....”

Only a great dealmaker could pull this off.

Trump buddies up with the GOP: "Great dealmaker!!!"

Cruz buddies up with the GOP: "He's a sellout! He's part of the establishment!"

Sigh.

The party lasts as long as “We, the people” allow it to last...

It has lasted this long because “We, the people” have been silent...

“We, the people” are now waking up and realizing that actually “We, the people” do have power....

Ha!

No LOL about it.

I’m certain Mr. Donald Trump did not go into that meeting with the proverbial hat in hand.

He exited with a smile and waving hand!

The GOP & RNC are back to Whig status if they mess with rules or continue to undermine Trump.

In this age of highly partisan judicial appointments, Ted Cruz might be the only one able to get unanimous confirmation in the Senate.

Everyone wants him out of there.

We will have to see but I don’t think he is going to let them call any of the shots. That’s just not who he is.

I think its more of a matter of letting them know each has cats and he knows how to let them out of the bag if they don’t stop playing dirty. Attack ads paid for by the party against the party front runner that breaks the contract and I’m sure Trump made sure that contract held both parties.

At same time Priebus is talking amicably to Trump, South Carolina seems to be talking about taking his delegates away because he’s not in good standing.

Bwa ha ha ha...

Good luck with that.
