Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe has vetoed legislation he said would legalize discrimination of the LGBT community.

The Democratic governor made the announcement Wednesday during a radio appearance on WTOP.

The measure would prohibit the state from punishing religious groups that refuse services related to gay marriages. Republican supporters said it would protect people from expressing their religious beliefs. …

One after another, the states show they cannot be trusted either.

And people wonder why “Federalism” isn’t popular.

It’s human nature, isn’t it? Or at least fallen human nature.

It is, but Rush Limbaugh and all the people at NRO just are puzzled over Trump’s imprecision with “federalism” and with whether it’s “states’ duties” or the federal government . . . what does it matter?

At this point, NEITHER will do the right thing.

He’ll think discrimination when a “Million Mom March” shows up outside his office complaining about the fags leaving the toilet seat up.

And yet so many people continue to look to government (or their favorite candidates) to fix things.

We haven’t had federalism for about 100 years; soft imperialism substituted for it, which is calcifying at present.

I’d put this whole thing straight to rest. If you can use a urinal to urinate you go to the little boys room. If you can’t and have to sit down you go to the little girls room. End of story. That’s discriminatory? Sorry about that.

Remember when Bill Clinton headed off an effort to get a constitutional amendment by signing that Defense of Marriage act?

I said at the time that this was just a delaying action. If we didn't FORCE a constitutional amendment down their throats, this was going to come back and bite us.

Same thing with "Don't ask, Don't Tell." It was just setting up the battleground for a later assault.

Good call. We, of course, know from the Civil War that without an amendment slavery would have been re-instituted in some way in several southern states as statutory law was swept out.

I still think we’ll need the traditional marriage constitutional amendment, and soon.

It's funny you should mention that, because the 14th amendment is primarily responsible for much of our current misery and insanity.

That amendment which was meant to give citizenship to freed slaves, was so badly written that it has been used to ban prayer in schools, create a "right to abortion", authorize "gay marriage" and a whole host of other nonsensical ideas that point to it as the justifying authority.

The consequences of the civil war are still manifesting themselves.

I still think we’ll need the traditional marriage constitutional amendment, and soon.

The electorate that would have passed such an amendment lies back in the 20th century. After 30 years of pro-gay propaganda, modern Americans don't really understand the nature or scope of queer people.

14th, though, was key in gun rights in last two USSC cases.

Christians - Discrimination

Liberals - Freedom of choice

The difference between the two.

Even if passed it would have been declared unconstitutional by some idiot judge.

Isn’t it amazing how the needle has swung on this issue. In 2004 Bush won on God, guns, and no gays.

I think you hit on something. When the redefinition of marriage came up, I stated that I would give it a hearing when someone gets around to telling us how such a so-alled "marriage" would be CONSUMMATED.

Now, the very existence as men and women as destinct sexes is obliterated in a legal sense. Might it be time for men to start invading ladie's rooms, leaving the toilet seat up on purpose en masse (personally, I'd wait till the ladies are gone since some of us don't want to invade their privacy), and "mark our territory" (so to speak), and MAKE them define what is a men's room, what is a ladies' room, and how are we to use them, and why.

The Defense of Marriage act, passed by Congress and signed by Bill Clinton, was declared "unconstitutional."

We are currently in a condition where laws and the rule of law has no real meaning.

Why they call him McAwful - the state of Virginia really scrapped the bottom of the barrel when they elected that one as governor.
