Who's Challenging Paul Ryan? Meet Paul Nehlen

The Washington Times teased Monday that Speaker of the House Paul Ryan is expected to get a Republican primary this Fall. RightWisconsin has learned that that challenger is Paul F. Nehlen III, age 47, of Delavan, Wisconsin.

The Washington Times described Nehlen as a "wealthy businessman with Tea Party ties" who has promised his run will "shake up the establishment in a profound way."

In a note posted to LinkedIn in June 2015, Nehlen accused Ryan of "deceiving the citizens of Wisconsin's 1st District." His criticism centered on the recent budget agreement, the effort to defund Planned Parenthood, the Iran deal, and Ryan's push for Trade Promotional Authority (TPA).

"He is not an American Patriot - he is a Globalist," said Nehlen. "Paul Ryan must go. I am going to work to see that it happens this election cycle."

In March, Nehlen criticized Speaker Ryan at The American Thinker for the most recent budget agreement.

"Who, exactly, is Paul Ryan representing these days? Because it clearly isn’t us," he wrote.

Nehlen's LinkedIn says his current role at Neptune Benson, a manufacturer of high quality water filtration and disinfection products, includes "Enterprise wide responsibility for all facets of operations including: Engineering, New Product Development, Production, Supply Chain, Business Development & Acquisitions, EBITDA Crusader."

Two website domain names, paulnehlenforcongress.com and paulnehlenforcongress.net, were purchased on Jan 11, 2016, and both now redirect to www.paulnehlen.com with a "coming soon" landing page. His tweets recently were "protected," and then scrubbed. He also has a "public figure" Facebook page.

Paul Nehlen didn't respond to requests for comment by the time of publication.

Part of me was hoping for ‘Menard’
“Save big money with Menard” would make a good campaign ad.

Isn’t it a little late to be initiating a campaign?

Five years ago I thought Paul Ryan was a conservative warrior, fighting hard for fiscal sanity in DC. I loved it when Romney put him on the ticket because, I thought, it balanced the northeast RINO that Romney was with a good reliable conservative. When Ryan struggled to out-debate that grinning fool Joe Biden, the dumbest man in DC, I got a little nervous. But I had his back.

Then he lost and ever since it's like he said "no more need to lie" and ripped off a mask revealing the worst RINO you ever saw. Amnesty? All for it! Big budgets? Heck, let's add MORE than the democrats asked for! But what about conservative pushback? Just use procedural trickery and democrat support to make sure we get it through!

I find him loathsome at this point. If the GOP inserts him I will certainly refuse to support him. I'll go libertarian first.

When the chairman of the BUDGET committee can’t balance a budget for forty years (when I’m sure any one of us could do it in about three), you know there’s a problem!

And now he’s the Speaker! God help us!

Even if he does not win, his campaign will inevitably turn Ryan rightward.

And scare him as he would be threatened with the Cantor experience.

Can you relate how many conservative warriors running for President or VP have come from the North or Northeast?

Need a Southerner on ticket.
