'Can I press charges?' Trump's fury as campaign manager is charged with battery of reporter

Donald Trump's campaign manager Corey Lewandowski was charged in Florida with simple battery The charge stems from a March 8 incident in which now former Breitbart reporter Michelle Fields approached Trump to ask a question Lewandowski allegedly grabbed Fields' arm leaving bruises She reported the incident to police three days later Trump already issued a statement saying Lewandowski will be 'exonerated' Republican front-runner Donald Trump's campaign manager Corey Lewandowski has been charged with simple battery for allegedly grabbing a reporter, in a case that may hinge on a Secret Service claim that the journalist first made unwanted physical contact with the billionaire-turned-politician.

'Victory press conference was over. Why is she allowed to grab me and shout questions? Can I press charges?' Trump tweeted this afternoon.

The misdemeanor case stems from an incident involving Lewandowski and now-former Breitbart.com reporter Michelle Fields.

After Trump's March 8 press conference at the Trump National Golf Course in Jupiter, Fields walked alongside him to ask a question and later said Lewandowski grabbed and bruised her.

Jupiter Police released surveillance footage on Tuesday giving the public an eagle-eye view of the incident where the grab at Fields is clear.

But speaking on condition of anonymity, a member of Trump’s Secret Service detail told DailyMail.com on Tuesday that Fields touched Trump twice – and was warned by agents to stop – before Lewandowski pulled her away.

'She crossed in between agents and our protectee after being told not to,' said the agent, who was present that night in Jupiter.

The aerial footage from inside the country club ballroom, which is a series of still photographs taken at steady intervals, doesn't capture Fields making contact with Trump. But it shows him apparently pulling his arm away from her.

So a Secret Service agent admitted they weren’t doing their job and this guy had to step in and do it for them? Yeah, right.

Fury? Over this stupid little issue?

Doesn’t bode well if he’s actually elected. Just imagine what he’d do if someone really did something bad, like asked him a hard question.

So when someone violates secret service orders twice, does a citizen have the right to pull them away from the candidate?

Did the police/ prosecutor really review all of these circumstances before pursuing something ridiculous?

The candidate was physically attacked at a recent event, narco terrorists have a price on his head, but you’re a criminal for pulling a reporter away from him and secret service. OK

So she was grabbing Trump, defying secret service, but it’s a “crime” when the campaign manager then intervened to pull her off? I do not think so.

Circumstances matter all you little amateur lawyers out there.

I wonder how many federal laws she violated grabbing a candidate when told to stop. Certainly she violated this same Florida statute.

She was warned by the Secret Service, how is that a stupid little issue?

‘She lunged out from a crowd towards a leading presidential candidate with something in her hand. This keeps getting forgotten,’ DeWitt said, adding that Lewandowski had served double duty as one of Trump’s ‘body’ men – his security forces – before Secret Service took over that role a few months earlier.

Fields will also find her own credibility under question as elements of the surveillance video disagree with her written account of the incident.

‘Trump acknowledged the question, but before he could answer I was jolted backwards. Someone had grabbed me tightly by the arm and yanked me down. I almost fell to the ground but was able to maintain my balance. Nonetheless, I was shaken,’ she wrote on the Breitbart site afterward.

The video appears to show Lewandowski grasping Fields on the upper arm and pulling her laterally, but there is no indication she was pulled downward or had trouble staying on her feet.

Fury?

Really?

How stupid.

Trump should handle this the way Cruz does, and have some cartoons about her commissioned.

Vindicated for what? there was never anything there.

Lord knows I’ve pummeled the Don in posts but there is NOTHING there in the video. nothing. it’s a joke.

And I like that trump doesn’t back down or bow or apologize all the time. I’m SO SICK of that from repubs.

I hope he does press charges against her if she laid a hand on him. I was arguing about this BS charge with a guy at work. He thinks the charges are appropriate because Lewandowski lied.
