Two of the most prominent outside groups funding efforts to prevent Donald Trump from winning the Republican nomination will spend heavily in Wisconsin, the next primary state, NBC News has learned.
Our Principles PAC is making a "very robust" investment in the state to fund a cable television ad buy, digital ads, direct and phone calls targeting Republican primary voters. The television ads are expected to be on air Monday.
The decision by Our Principles PAC was announced Friday, one day after another anti-Trump group, the Club for Growth, announced its own $1 million advertisement buy in the Badger State. Together the two groups have spent about $15 million on anti-Trump messaging in the Republican primary.
With only 17 Republican primary contests remaining, Wisconsin, the next state to vote, is a critical opportunity for Donald Trump opponents to hinder his candidacy.

Some is probably coming from Soros, but the majority is probably coming from all the wealthy neo-con artists who signed that “open letter” denouncing Trump.

I think you have Ted PACS, GOPe PACS and Soros’ Democrat PACS all with the same interest.
They want the one independent candidate who can turn Washington on its ears out of contention for power.

Why would Democrats want to stop Trump? He is about as popular as colon cancer to a general election audience and losing from 6-18 points to Hillary right now.
Trump is the Democrat dream candidate for them to face in the Fall. If there was one candidate in our field that was so divisive and obnoxious he had no chance of winning a general election it’s Trump.
He’s like the Presidential nominee version of former Senate candidate, and utter disaster, Todd Akin.
Heck I wouldn’t be surprised if Democrats started their own Super PAC to run ads boosting Trump till he gets nominated. And considering how much money Trump gave to Hillary, the Clinton Foundation, Pelosi, Reid and other assorted liberals it could even be their way of paying him back for previous help rendered.

I’m in Wisconsin. So far a few unanswered calls from kasich and a Few Bernie ads on TV and Cruz radio and TV ads.
Wisconsinites are very familiar with outside funders and outside agitators, yet they ignored them and elected Scott Walker three times.

Bottom line, if Cruz fairs better against Hillary then all he has to do is win the Republican nomination. If he can't do that then I do not see him beating Hillary either. Because supposedly, Trump is the easier of the two to beat.

No, sorry, that is not how the transition from primary audience to general election audience works. What you are suggesting would be like saying, "If no other Republican could beat Todd Akin in the Missouri GOP primary, then none of those other Republicans could have beat Claire McCaskill". Surely you don't believe that. Claire was one of the most vulnerable Democrat Senators in the last cycle and managed to hold her seat because Missouri primary voters nominated the one guy who was almost certain to say something stupid and go on to lose.
It just doesn't work that way. The best general election candidate just doesn't always win the primary. The same situation could be applied to Sharon Angle or Christine O'Donnell. None of these candidates were the best general election matchup against the Democrat, but they all got nominated and lost what should have been winnable elections.
Now you can make all the arguments in the world for or against candidates based on your beliefs, worldview, etc, but the idea that whoever wins the GOP nomination is automatically the best candidate to run against whoever the Democrats put up (in this case Clinton) is completely wrong. If you really believe what you are saying then you would have to agree that somehow McCain and Romney were truly the best candidates to run against Obama, and I don't think any of us here on FR really believe that.

So explain how that works in your mind, that Cruz who is behind in the primaries wins the general election. I realize that a majority vote count does not give Trump the electoral votes necessary to win. But where does Ted get the necessary electoral votes to win?
If Cruz had been vetted up to this point 1/10 as much as Trump (or lied about 1/10 as often in the media), he would be polling even lower than Trump. And we can be certain that will happen in the unlikely event he becomes the nominee. He can’t even convince the “somewhat conservative” and “moderate” Republicans to vote for him in any significant numbers. You can’t win an election with just the “very conservative,” not even the primaries, much less a general (that’s why Kasich, who doesn’t have a chance, got so much of Rubio’s support). It doesn’t matter if he energizes the base and runs up huge numbers in solidly red states. He has almost no chance of competing in purple or blue states—and that means he loses.
Part of the reason Trump has been going down in the general match-up polls lately is the never-ending onslaught of attacks and lies coming from Republicans of various stripes. Hopefully, the party will cut the BS and start opposing Hillary instead once the general comes around, and Trump’s numbers will go back up. So many Republicans blaming him for the left-wing efforts to shut down his free speech has also hurt him, when it probably would have helped him if the Republicans had stood with him against the Marxists instead. Hopefully, the #neverTrump hysterics will end after the convention.
