In today's litigious environment, the correct answer was to express complete understanding of the religious principles at stake, say it was okay, and then fire them a week or two later for unrelated performance issues. You can no longer give any honest feedback on why people are fired, even though that might help them. Just do what is right for your business and hope that parasites like these don't show up too often.

Note: Give them a "positive" job recommendation if someone calls; it could be a set up. By positive, I mean, "yes, they worked for me and they were fine. If I had a desperate need for a driver and no one else qualified applied for a month or more, I might hire them back." That doesn't have anything specific and negative, so it can't be used against you, but it provides the answers that another employer needs.

There is no response too harsh for people so evil that they would use government force to steal $240k from an employer. You cannot legally shoot them, but at least you can legally give others like them such a halfhearted job recommendation in the future that these are the last parasites to harm their employer and get away with it.

Hmmm, this case seems to offer a way out for the Christian bakers! From now on, all they need to say is, “Sure I’ll bake a cake for your homo-sexual wedding. But I’m afraid I won’t be able to deliver it from the kitchen to front of shop!”

Delivering is equivalent to Baking

Beer is equivalent to gay wedding

Muslims is equivalent to Christians

Both refuse to do what they were asked to do based on religious objections.

One difference -— the Muslims were employees while the bakers were business owners.

The difference is then obvious — the Obama administration applies different standards to Muslims (favorably) vs Christians (unfavorably).

CONCLUSION: There is no equality before the law.
