Has Ben Carson Turned on Donald Trump? He Sounds Like He's having Second Thoughts
American Thinker ^ | 03/18/2016 | by M. Catharine Evans

Ben Carson’s endorsement of Donald Trump last Friday left many pundits and supporters scratching their heads. Three days later, in an interview, Carson sounded as if his support for the front runner was less than heartfelt.

After assuring the press on Friday he and Trump had "buried the hatchet," Carson told Newsmax's Steve Malzberg on Monday he would have preferred another candidate like Rubio or Kasich. Carson explained his rationale for supporting Trump.

“I had to look at what is practical… Is there another scenario that I would have preferred? Yes. But that scenario isn’t available." Besides, he said, even if Trump doesn't deliver the goods, “we’re only looking at 4 years."

Later, when Malzberg inserted race into the discussion of Trump paying legal fees for protesters, and misidentified the Trump supporter and  protester involved in an altercation at one of the candidate's rallies, Carson not only failed to correct the interviewer, he chastised Trump for giving "the progressives a gift" and acting like Obama.

Here's the exchange:

SM: Offering to pay the expenses of a man, the black man who hit the other, I believe black man, who punched him. Do you believe that that is the right thing to do?

BC:  That certainly is not what I would have done. Even if I was going to, I wouldn't have announced it publicly because that does provide for the progressives, you know, a gift that you don't need to give them.

ST:  So why do you think he does that?

BC:  Uh, well he's a showman. Recognize that uh, you're dealing with somebody that has become world famous with showmanship.

Sorry I sent money to this man. He is very indecisive. Not presidential material.

Loyalty sounds like a “Which way is the wind blowing”, Ben.

If you endorse someone on national TV, you should at least have the courage of your convictions.

His response should have been, because WHEN he paid the man’s legal fees the press would have found out about it anyway so it is ALWAYS BEST to tell the truth from the beginning and be done with it!!! Trump doesn’t hide behind lies!!!

The sentiment in FR seems to be that Ben Carson is a nice guy, but he isn’t quite up to the job.

Frankly, if you look a little more closely, I think it’s worse than that.

Just one example. When it was made public that Planned Parenthood was selling body parts of aborted babies for fat profits, Dr. Carson said, in effect, “Well, and what’s wrong with that?” In fact there was some indication that he would do the same thing himself.

Sorry, I don’t think he’s just dumb. I also think he can’t be trusted.

At the start of the primary season my picks were:
Cruz
Walker
Carson

Walker was the first to show he was out of his element. Great guy and a hero to the conservative movement but sadly not presidential.

Carson was the second to drop with his ‘going home to change clothes’ thing and subsequently blaming Cruz...
The first proved he wasn’t able to manage the message or to see how his actions might look.
The second proved he wasn’t able to take responsibility for his own actions. — Not good.
Still a great man with a message that needs to be heard but a presidential primary is not the podium from which to deliver it.

His ‘support’ for trump has been damning at best.

I have to think Dr. Carson has either emotional or mental issues.

Even his face, went dark after the Cruz shenanigans in IOWA in those following debates. He was deeply hurt and enraged.

Trump showed him some sympathy publically, Carson endorses him, but Carson seems unmoored and listing aimlessly, making atrocious comments that serve no discernible purpose, yet.

Dr. Ben is going to surgically remove his chances on career advancement. He seems very much conflicted and plainly inhibited. Maybe it’s best that he remove himself from the perimeter of the campaign anyway. The Progressives will keep inviting him for interviews to hear him mumble and indirectly bash other republicans. He will think they invite him because he’s still popular.

Carson endorsed Trump, saw the endorsement did not sell any more of his books (aka Campaign 2016), and is now rethinking.

In the same way liberals co-opted the word “gay” to use it in connection with filthy practices, they hi-jacked the word “fascist” to use against anyone who exerts authority.

It was Cruz, Walker and Carson as well for me and I didn’t know who Trump was at the time. When I heard about him, I didn’t like him. He’s so egotistical, but over time, the more I listen, I’ve warmed up to him. Trump is a very funny person, he has a lot of charisma. Something Cruz lack

The media have been asking him questions to trap him into saying things that will sound like he does not support Trump.

Dr. Carson has a way of speaking that can be twisted around out of context.

Just more media slime balls trying to embarrass Trump.
