“According to the wording of the Constitution, the states are empowered to select the electors for the Electoral College “in such Manner as the Legislature thereof may direct.” In other words, how the electors are appointed and how they vote is a matter to be decided by the individual states...”

Oh good. Socialists trying to resurrect States Rights. There really are not enough ends to justify the level of needs these thugs have. When you find yourself agreeing with a socialist society, time to consult your bullshit meter.

Just try to abort the people’s choice and Civil War II begins. Thomas Jefferson and all the Founders warned us about this and is the main reason for the 2nd Amendment. BEWARE!

I am not advocating for violence nice, but I would suggest that riots would be the mild end of the spectrum should elites grab power against the will of the people.

The real problem is districts....Places like Philly....and a couple other Pa cities....who rule the election results in blocks...Totally undermining the electoral college.

Pop Quiz: Name the only country on the planet to blunder it’s way into not one, but TWO Civil Wars due to the stupefying stupidity of it’s political class.

“in such Manner as the Legislature thereof may direct.

The Legislatures have so directed by passing laws in each of the states governing this.

What is advocated is the state legislatures overturning their own laws and adopting some other arbitrary and capricious standard instead.

"Clearly, Trump supporters and, potentially, anyone who sees this sort of procedural move as a dirty trick, would object to this as antidemocratic. But voters’ preferences would still be reflected — albeit indirectly — in the decisions made by the state legislatures, whose members are elected by the people. And the existence of the Electoral College, no matter how electors are chosen, means that the people, technically, have already been indirectly selecting their presidents.

If the GOP puts their person in the office of the President of the United States of America... and voters ignored ... there will be hell to pay... it had better be stopped before they go any further... if they crumble under obama’s threats of veto... then they’d better crumble over millions of voices out here.. voices that have bodies.. and bodies that are already mad as hell at them. That message had better be sent loud and clear to congress.. to the media who have switched from being some what friendly, to enemies of the people.. that includes Fox and all their contributors. Some I thought would go to the mat in defeating obama and hillary.. BUT have showed their true side against the people who are sick and tired of all of them. They’d choose an inside liberal before an outside winner who stands against all that is wrong.

Trump has done a great service already, as he has exposed those who consider themselves our “betters”... that elections are too important to allow the voters to decide who wins. Sorta reminds one of an old Chicago adage: “Everybody gets to cast a ballot, but the votes have already been counted”.

Last paragraph:

[ “And it would be perfectly constitutional.....” ]
****

So, this is saying because by popular vote alone we presently elect our state senators and high officers, and therefore we are bound to entrust the power to them for selecting our state’s electoral votes, aka— delegates.

The reasons for this are many as the article describes, and were important for holding the country together, when she was but a foundling. I do get that.

It’s just that.... oh, well, you know exactly the subjection felt by the people.

“Everybody gets to cast a ballot, but the votes have already been counted”.

Chicago. What a rat infested pool of putrid politics.

If the left does something often enough and long enough... and in this climate of unconstitutional actions and lawlessness.. they’ve been doing whatever they want often and long... so the people who are non interested in government... and those who are young enough to have no knowledge about what went on before... and those who like the new norm... and those who have been brain fed by the left..indoctrinated in those lib colleges and schools... if they just program the minds of those who will be programmed... Hey.. we will have a new country.. one without any binding, restricting constitution.. one with courts who will decide in our favor... one with what we say is what becomes the law... one where riots and crime is rampant... one where we will kill off the Bible class and the elderly..
And we’ll have our eternal utopia!

“If they choose, state legislators can appoint presidential electors themselves this November, rather than leaving the matter of apportioning Electoral College votes by popular vote,” writes Muller, adding that “via their chosen electors, legislatures could [then] elect any presidential candidate they prefer.”

That is written in the Constitution and no "compact" can override that.

One who sadly has no chance of winning.

As weeks go by, masks continue to drop from the faces of the lyin power brokers.

Bad news for Trump and Canadian Cruz, this is another way for Democrat machine and GOPe to steal the election!

Citizens vote for Electors, not the Presidential candidate. The State electors make a pledge to support a specific candidate. The pledge is informal, and any laws to enforce said pledge is prolly not constitutional.
The Electors had been one of many hurdles to ensure a natural born Citizen becomes President, and unqualified demigods are blocked from President.
These Electors SHOULD HAVE demanded to review Barry Soetoro’s Birth Certificate, Selective Service application, university records, etc.

.....In practice, the state legislatures have generally chosen to create Electors through an indirect popular vote, since the 1820s.
In an indirect popular vote, it is the names of the electors who are on the ballot to be elected. Typically, their names are aligned under the name of the candidate for President and Vice President, that they, the Elector, have pledged they will support. It is fully understood by the voters and the Electors themselves that they are the representative “stand-ins” for the individuals to whom they have pledged to cast their electoral college ballots to be President and Vice President....

The author is lauding “government by the politicians, for the politicians”, while still writing approvingly of the idea that the national popular vote could be used in place of individual states’ preferences - which absolutely disenfranchises any small or less populous state.
