The 100% automated restaurant, Eatsa, has inspired the CEO of Carl's Jr.
The CEO of Carl's Jr. and Hardee's has visited the fully automated restaurant Eatsa and it's given him some ideas on how to deal with rising minimum wages. "I want to try it," CEO Andy Puzder told Business Insider of his automated restaurant plans. "We could have a restaurant that's focused on all-natural products and is much like an Eatsa, where you order on a kiosk, you pay with a credit or debit card, your order pops up, and you never see a person."
Puzder's interest in an employee-free restaurant, which he says would be possible only if the company found time as Hardee's works on its northeastern expansion, has been driven by rising minimum wages across the US.
"With government driving up the cost of labor, it's driving down the number of jobs," he says. "You're going to see automation not just in airports and grocery stores, but in restaurants."
Puzder has been an outspoken advocate against raising the minimum wage, writing two op-eds for The Wall Street Journal on how a higher minimum wage would lead to reduced employment opportunities.
"This is the problem with Bernie Sanders, and Hillary Clinton, and progressives who push very hard to raise the minimum wage," says Puzder. "Does it really help if Sally makes $3 more an hour if Suzie has no job?"
But Puzder says that a restaurant that's 100% automated would have one big plus for millennials: no social interaction.
"Millennials like not seeing people," he says. "I've been inside restaurants where we've installed ordering kiosks ... and I've actually seen young people waiting in line to use the kiosk where there's a person standing behind the counter, waiting on nobody."

Between automating his systems and moving the HQ from CA to TN, look for this guy to become Democrat Public Enemy #1.
“you pay with a credit or debit card, your order pops up, and you never see a person.”
Easier said than done. A good number of people just want to talk to other people to get to the point, hence the hatred for “press 3 for the person..”, I;ve been to downtown contesting parking tickets and there’s a McD’s with the kiosks, People tend to avoid it based on what i saw and I;ve been there a couple of times to buy coffee.
Even if they sold sawdust-burgers, the never-see-a-person would make up for it
A machine won’t spit in your food, give you attitude or roll its eyes...
Not young people everything is done on the iPhone
But I think you need a person there, to correct issues that might come up, answer questions, etc. It is very frustrating to pay for something that then comes out wrong, and then there is nothing you can do about it.
Even when we get back to economic prosperity, I prefer more self service kiosks. I’m all about putting people to work, but I’m sorry, many people shouldn’t be interacting with customers. I need someone who understands basic math when we are transacting money, and can speak comprehend-able English. This is America, I shouldn’t be paying to struggle understanding you.
Yeah but the person restocking the machine will... and much more!!! ;)
I would rather be waited on by a machine. Actually, waiting on myself aided by a machine. You wouldn’t have to worry about a machine spitting on your food. Machines don’t spit.
I like this idea.
Most fast food places around here employ very low-functioning types.
I’m sure once everybody is out of work, sales will skyrocket.
Machines dont spit.

Well, a machine can foul your food, but it’s not going to do it with intent.
I’ll go with the machine making my food.
I hate self check out at Lowe’s/Home Depot. I hate press 3. I hate having to listen to an automated system ask me questions over a 3-4 minute period that have nothing to do with my issue and having to repeat my answer 4-5 times before the system understands me. I want a real person every time.
I'm with you. I always want to speak with a person when I call a company. The way I get around automated phone systems is to speak gobbledy gook. Of course, it depends on the system, and sometimes it doesn't work.
But usually, especially when I'm calling as a consumer, if I answer an automated system question by saying something like: "ba-DAA, mullipee farnsdorf," the auto system will often say: "Let me connect you with an agent who can help you."
“ba-DAA, mullipee farnsdorf”
That’s a common Sanders talking point!
You’re a Bernie Sanders plant!
“I hate self check out at Lowes/Home Depot.”
especially when the stupid machine tells you to “place the item in the bag” and you actually DID.
Then you call ironically...a PERSON to help you with the same stupid machine.
I think 100% automated is a ways off. I believe you’ll see additional automation of processes as a process, not an event.
