A family being held hostage by a suspected murderer fatally shot him Thursday morning — ending the multi-agency manhunt for the armed and dangerous felon, police said.

At one point, McCloud stabbed the man in the shoulder and he got loose.

The man and his wife managed to grab a gun and one of them shot McCloud during the hours-long struggle, Armstrong told The Associated Press.

I wasn’t. It’s Vicksburg MS, it could hardly be anyone else.

And the name “Rafael” for black guys used to be practically a mainstream name for them, until all the apostrophised and faux-African and weird pseudo-French prefixes came into fashion.

I tell you what though. This story has been bothering me all day, since I first read of it here. His quick death by lead poisoning was too quick after what he did to that poor 69 yo woman. That's the kind of crime that makes me get over my squeamishness real fast and want to see drawing and quartering brought back. It has certainly made me give my safety procedures a refresher run-through.

The poor woman. I saw her picture, she just looked like the kindest, sweetest lady. Not that it would have been justified if she’d been a shrew.

My husband and I agreed that I need to have a talk with my much too-trusting, elderly neighbor who’s from Britain but has lived here for decades.

My husband had to run off a black guy who approached her in her yard trying to engage in her in talk. Sorry how it looks, but I don’t want her to be a statistic.

And onyx, I’d be a nervous wreck if that happened to someone I knew, just doors from me. I must spend half my life thinking through possible scenarios and how I need to react.

“I must spend half my life thinking through possible scenarios and how I need to react.”

Better to do that and be ready, if anything should happen and not needing it, than to not want to think about it and have something happen and not being ready to avoid or defend yourself.
