There won’t be a second ballot. Any necessary deals will be made with rules changes or uncommitted counts or ? before the first ballot.

It’s actually very unlikely that any deals will be needed, as Trump is overwhelmingly likely to have requisite delegates. Even if Cruz goes establishment, there’s zero chance his delegates would go for a candidate that has been rejected or not participated.

I’m not sure that I understand. If a candidate has won at least 8 states, and has the necessary number of delegates to win, then on the first ballot, only those delegates will cast votes. Is so, Trump should win.

Not necessarily. As the article pointed out some of those delegates like from Virginia would not count in the total. It was the only way Mittens could win. I remember Florida well Newt actually won the most votes but mittens group had rewritten the state laws so that the delegates were distributed in other ways. This rule change was suppose to be challenged and changed before the convention. But because Romney was in charge it never happened. Romney is still in charge of this years convention. He made the d-— rules and he’s going to enforce them to his advantage He’s in charge you know !

The RNC rules were written for ¡Yeb! ....the fully-funded Designated GOPe Loser. However, Trump took the playbook, unceremoniously shoved Jebito out of the race, and sent him crawling back to his mommy. The renegade Trump is now using the GOPeers own rules to beat them. I’m enjoying every minute of it.

Who knew Republican politics could be such fun (/smirk).

The two hardest things to accomplish in American politics is to supplant one of the existing major political parties, and then to establish a viable new political party. It has really only happened once in the history of the Republic, though many have tried.

Trump may accomplish one of these, sort of. He may succeed in breaking apart the Republican Party and their establishment leadership, but if he is elected, he will do so as a Republican. One reason for his apparent success is that he is a celebrity which is the only reason that the media will give him any coverage, as they hate his guts. The only hope for a conservative in this era is through some sort of celebrity status. I have never heard of this guy, so while I wish him well, he is not going anywhere.
