Well, in your mind, who knows?

Most of us never saw a Trump Dubio alliance, but then we don’t follow alien sightings either as a rule...

“Minor compared to the dirty trickster.”

Of course. Typical double standard.

Your post is a perfect example of why many find Trump so repelling.

Good luck rallying the party for the general.

Were some of Cruzers staff plants and he followed their bad advice? Even if that’s what happened, it’s a strong negative concerning his presidential abilities that he didn’t clean house, as far back as the holiday season.

Exactly. I was just thinking about Gingrich winning it in 2012. Hardly an evangelical. South Carolina has that presence but it is not overwhelming in their voting habits. The idea that it is like Iowa and drives the election results is false. It is a factor, but one of many and does not seem to drive single issue voting. If anything, looking at 2012 and 2016, it’s a state that’s fed up with the status quo and votes for the person most vocal about changing it.

So why didn’t an evangelical like Santorum win any delegates in SC back in the ‘08 election?

Newt Gingrich did, and he was a better candidate than Santorum. Just like how Trump is a better candidate than Cruz and Rubio.

I keep pointing out that South Carolina is an open primary state. What happened there is that DEMOCRATS voted for Trump.”

Thanks for pointing that out. I had completely forgotten that idiosyncrasy with SC. I was flabbergasted by Sen Cruz's apparent poor showing

You really think that everyone who identifies as an Evangelical is Republican?

RE:”Trump only defends himself when attacked.
Cruz never had any issues until he began to attack Trump. That was his biggest mistake.”

BS, Cruz was beating Trump in the polls in Iowa so Trump started the birther ineligible crap to counter it, which failed there. That was after months earlier he said his lawyers looked into it and said it was absolutely NOT an issue,

Cruz defended himself and Trump called it an attack.

Trump was even forced to admit it :

When Trump was asked why he was raising the citizenship question now, after many months of campaigning, Trump was blunt, saying it's because now Cruz is “doing a little bit better,” Trump said. “I didn't care before.”

Cruz turns tables on Trump with citizenship question (Cooper Allen, USA TODAY 15, 2016)

He attacked Cruz because it was a convenient time.

“Even if that’s what happened, it’s a strong negative”

So if he doesn’t hold his staff accountable, he looks bad. If he does hold them accountable, he looks bad. Do I have that about right?

Do you really believe that Dems who care whether Hillary or Bernie wins their primary are going to waste their vote by voting in GOP primary? You can only vote in one or the other.

That said I don’t put much store in anonymous quotes and find it hard to believe someone still in a campaign would say that. Although I support Trump.

It’s hard to let go. South Carolina killed the Cruz campaign deader than a door nail.

What I never understood, was Cruz dooming his own campaign from the start, banking on a message to NO ONE who wasn’t an evangelical?

Who does that?

Jeb Bush swaggered into this race doing the same thing as Cruz essentially. Bush began his campaign boasting how he would just go around the base, didn’t need them, and crafted his message to say, “ME TARZAN”, he said I am a Bush and shall win with the Establishment like always.
