Bingo! I don’t have sympathy for people who default on paying back their loans but the timing of this is political it would seem.

That is NOT the entire story, he was also wanted on a federal contempt of court charge. He failed to show up for a federal court deposition. As that P/O’d the judge who swore out the warrant on him, but also had back [29 years] worth of unpaid student loans.

There is a big difference between public debt and private debt.
He volunteered for this debt. Public debt forced on the public is way different. Public debt forces debt slavery without consent most times. Did you want to fund the money going to hostile governments in the Middle East such as Pakistan? Didnt think so. That is a debt forced on you without your consent.
This is clearly some one who choose to put himself in the situation he is in. Therefore he is getting what he choose.

I looked it up and you are right.
They have evidently changed the law since I was a pre-Law major in the 1980’s.
One of my professors at UT-Austin used to rail on about Texas was a land of deadbeats because of this.
Or maybe he was wrong?

Next will be debtors prison They just abolished the debtors' prison (part of the regular jail here) one month ago. Mostly delinquent child support cases. I think inmates served only a night or a weekend generally; sad to see it go. It WAS an incentive to pay up.

I’m going to guess they got a default judgment after they evidence he was served.
At least 30 days later they order him to appear at a`proceeding supplemental to execution upon the judgment.
He blows that off.
They show good service and serve him with an order to appear and show cause why he shouldn’t be held in contempt for failing to show for his pro supp.
He blows that off.
They show good service then they get the judge to issue an arrest warrant for contempt of court.
Happens every day. Pay your dam loans back like the rest of us.

No sympathy here! I paid mine (for myself and my Daughters). Had a neighbor who went to marry his old sweetheart until he found out she was $100-200K in arrears on student loans for useless degrees (she was rarely employed only for years). There is a whole class of folks who live off the student loans for years!! This mindset is nothing new, I once had a young man come in to demand that I "Do Something" about the fact that the Florida Unemployment folks had cut off his benefits when they found out that the whole time he was supposedly looking for work ..., he was in school adroitly being totally unemployable at those job interviews he bothered to show up for (this was NEARLY 50 YEARS AGO)!!!
