DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — The Iowa Supreme Court says a stun gun, under Iowa law, is a dangerous weapon.

The court made the conclusion as it affirmed the conviction of a woman charged with carrying a dangerous weapon after police found a stun gun in her purse in 2013 during an arrest for theft at a Waterloo Walmart.

Taquala Howse, who is 25, appealed saying her small hand-held stun gun isn’t dangerous.

A district judge convicted Howse, finding the state had proven it was dangerous.

Wow. And that is a conservative state Cruz mentions. Not really. Heck is there even a conservative state anymore?

This ruling could set an unintended precedent in cases of stung-gun use by police officers.

Cha-ching!

Due credit to the wonderful Iowa legislature =>

It is an aggravated misdemeanor to carry a concealed stun gun without a concealed weapons permit. Penalties include a fine of $625 (and up to $6,250), up to two years in prison, or both.

The Iowa law that the court upheld exempts police, correctional officers and the military.

Self defense is to liberals the most serious crime that is not a Crime Against The State, even worse than thought crimes.

As soon as urban voters hold the balance of power they proceed to outlawing freedom.

Soon they will rule that peeing or vomiting on someone is a “dangerous weapon”

Soon knives, tire irons, and baseball bats will be included in the list.

Give 'em another 4 or 5 years and they'll declare the Internet to be "subversive."

Consider the source. IOWA is RURAL.

It is simple. Carry a real gun! If you are going to be charged anyway, why not us “the Real Thing”.

Not so much:

Rural to urban population shift

Population age comparison between rural Pocahontas County and urban Polk County, illustrating the flight of young adults (red) to urban centers in Iowa.[74]
Iowa’s population is more urban than rural, with 61 percent living in urban areas in 2000, a trend that began in the early 20th century.[60] Urban counties in Iowa grew 8.5% from 2000 to 2008, while rural counties declined by 4.2%.[75] The shift from rural to urban has caused population increases in more urbanized counties such as Dallas, Johnson, Linn, Polk, and Scott, at the expense of more rural counties.[76]

Iowa, in common with other Midwestern states (especially Kansas, Nebraska, North Dakota, and South Dakota), is feeling the brunt of rural flight, although Iowa has been gaining population since approximately 1990. Some smaller communities, such as Denison and Storm Lake, have mitigated this population loss through gains in immigrant laborers.[77]

Another demographic problem for Iowa is the brain drain, in which educated young adults leave the state in search of better prospects in higher education or employment. During the 1990s, Iowa had the second highest exodus rate for single, educated young adults, second only to North Dakota.[78] Significant loss of educated young people contributes to economic stagnation and the loss of services for remaining citizens.

I don’t know. Are you carrying the baseball bat ‘concealed’?

Does this mean you can ‘open carry’ a stun gun and it’s legal?
