Rubio fined over improper donations (2012)

The Federal Election Commission has fined Sen. Marco Rubio $8,000 for accepting more than $210,000 in improper contributions during his 2010 run for the Senate.

In a negotiated settlement finalized last month but only publicly released now, Marco Rubio for Senate acknowledged taking in more than $210,000 in "prohibited, excessive and other impermissible contributions" during his Senate campaign and failing to refund or "redesignate" the funds within the allowed time frame.

Even after an internal audit, the Rubio campaign failed to identify more than $83,000 in improper or incorrectly characterized contributions, according to a March 19 agreement between the campaign and the FEC.

An FEC review showed that the improper donations came from more than 100 individuals, and in two cases, the campaign accepted corporate contributions, which are illegal. Marco Rubio for Senate also accepted nearly $26,000 for the primary race even after the primary election was already over.

Rubio raised nearly $21 million for his 2010 Senate race, FEC records show, and the improper contributions - while large overall - represent only a fraction of what Rubio raised during the campaign.

Both Rubio and Cruz are gross. But Rubio is more conservative then Cruz on issues except 1. I admit Cruz is more conservative then Rubio on Immigration but likely more a tie........but on all other issues Rubio beats Cruz.

Trump 2016!

And the FEC completely ignored Obama’s “qualifications”....and God knows, his campaign actions. Makes ya puke.

Rubio acknowledged the activity and paid the fine. He cleaned up the fund raising practices. How does that compare with Cruz’s reaction when it’s found that he or his staff did something that’s not what people want from a campaign?

Trump 2016!

I’d pick Cruz over Rubio any day of the week. Can’t stand Cruz’s lies about Trump...one after another...Cruz should be practicing law.

Trump 2016!

Rubita is a amnesty hack and indefensible, voting for him would be the same as voting for as dem as far as I’m concerned.

FEC announces this six years after the fact? This says more about the failure of the FEC.

Why are we posting articles from 2012? This article is literally a 4 year old article. There is nothing new here and it isn’t current news at all.

Bull!

Rubio is iffy on the 2nd amendment, but Cruz is the only POTUS candidate that GOA has ever endorsed.

Oh brother. Your lust for Cruz gets in the way of truth. I guess Cruz lies so much you are used to it.

It’s just a fact!

There is no way Rubio or Trump would EVER be endorsed by GOA!

Big Whoop. I never said they would. Cruz is a snake and the latest SC poll showing him 4th place proves that voters are seeing what I see and not the nonsense you are pulling. Cruz has had the worst campaign in history.

And he had to recently pay back $22,000 to the Republican Party for misusing his Republican Party credit card, and that was only from the past 2 year audit. I would prefer a candidate who was above reproach...but can’t think of a one.

Cruz is unquestionably the best conservative in the race.

Rubio is more conservative than TRUMP on every issue but immigration (if you believe Trump’s current position).
