As to your point, Trump's "lie" is no more bothersome to me than Cruz"s "lie"... in that neither are particularly material. It's more about both vitriol and hypocrisy. When people lead their arguments with ad hominems like "liar" and "no one likes him" (a sure sign that they have no legitimate argument), I find it pitiful when they ignore the log in their own candidate's eye to point at the speck in another's.
I give you credit for admiting that Trump is guilty of what you accused Cruz of. It would be better if, rather than mudslinging with personal insults, FReepers could actually discuss candidates' records and their policy suggestions. But that doesn't seem to be possible anymore. Instead, I read posts that sound like they are written by thirteen year-old girls about who is a liar and who is popular and who is a "winner." At this rate, whichever candidate wins, we'll (conservatives) all lose...

I’m not going to ignore Trump’s faults. I’ve criticized him before on the instances of some of the things he’s said about Carson, his missing the Iowa debate, and on this issue of the Coburn non-quote.
I’ve also criticized his style being sort of scatter shot. However, despite those flaws, he is still my candidate, but he’ll not get a free pass from me.
And I agree with your assessment of whichever candidate wins, conservatives lose.
Unfortunately, our field of candidates is flawed. I’m not sure any of these guys are the remedy for America’s woes.

No candidate will ever be perfect, nor do I expect them to be. I’d vote for Cruz or Trump against Hillary or Bernie in a heartbeat (and probably need a shower after pulling the lever for Rubio. Yeb or Kasich... eh, why bother voting for one Democrat over another?). What I hate is seeing the conservative base cannibalize itself (I’ve either got to hate Levin, Rush, and Sowell or Palin, Schlafly, and Arpaio, depending on which side I ask). No matter who wins, the conservative movement will have decimated itself. It’s just stupid. No single candidate is worth that!
