Ted Cruz in South Carolina: Commanders shouldn't worry about "gluten-free MREs"

Now that the GOP race has moved out of the left-wing northeast, where Donald Trump shined, Ted Cruz is back in motion, getting bold when speaking to crowds in South Carolina.

Like fellow conservative Marco Rubio, who’s also showing gains in the state, Ted Cruz is making it clear that if he were President, America would have a stronger military ready to keep our country safe.

Cruz is taking aim right at the classic Democrat policies that turn the military into a lab for social justice warriors:

That’s why the last thing any commander should need to worry about is the grades he is getting from some plush-bottomed Pentagon bureaucrat for political correctness or social experiments — or providing gluten-free MREs

Who are South Carolina veterans going to support? A tested conservative who understands the role of the military, or a New Yorker who rattles off Code Pink talking points when he’s not turning pink in a tanning booth?

South Carolina values, not New York values.

He still has to explain his military cuts in the budget. That will haunt him unless he gives a real explanation. The military is bare bone now and he wants to cut? Maybe that the town hall he’ll have to answer for it.

Boy, he got that right. Constant whining of the left drives me insane. It’s like a spoiled brat whose parents just finally give in.

BUT, why does Ted Cruz have to bash gluten free? Is celiacs disease a disqualifier to serve in the military?

“Who are South Carolina veterans going to support? A tested conservative ...”

Tested?

Where?

I think the vets want to stop doing tours in the desert. Maybe Ted can let them in on those plans, RedState.

I would guess that celiac’s is a no go for the military. I have it and every time I get the tiniest amount of gluten it is like getting the flu.

I have a relative with Celiac. Diagnosed at the Mayo Clinic, on the basis of antibody titre, after a bunch of other doctors dicked around for years and kept saying it was "psychosomatic".

Then confirmed by endoscopic examination of the villi of the small intestine.

Cruz should head back to Canada and run for office there.

Where?

In the Harvard classroom, of course. Trump has taken on the vet's issues from day one. Welcome to the party Ted, nothing like trying a tried and tested issue.

Dead State is run by Erick Erickson, enough said.

He's bashing the misplaced priorities of the Obama regime.

Good point. We don’t need Christians in higher office. Only non-believers are welcome to represent us.

Having a gluten free diet and a warm puppy is a D*mned site more important than a live baby, a Constitution, the Chinese military, and Iranian Bomb, ISIS ongoing conquest of the Near East etc.etc.

I have real problems with how much money goes to defense, and then reports that we are threadbare or less capable or hampered by soft factors.

Account for the money. Put the grifters up against a wall and kill them for aiding and abetting enemies during time of war.

The military budget is so vast we should be unassailable by anyone, even accounting for the 70 year free ride for our military welfare dependents in Europe.

Then reconsider whether every dry goat turd, every writhing viper nest and every stinking bog on the face of the earth is worthy of occupation or defense. The neocons have bled us white to NO PURPOSE for a quarter century. The decayed economy and infrastructure reflects this.

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

1. Sun Tzu said: In the operations of war, where there are in the field a thousand swift chariots, as many heavy chariots, and a hundred thousand mail-clad soldiers, with provisions enough to carry them a thousand LI, the expenditure at home and at the front, including entertainment of guests, small items such as glue and paint, and sums spent on chariots and armor, will reach the total of a thousand ounces of silver per day. Such is the cost of raising an army of 100,000 men.

2. When you engage in actual fighting, if victory is long in coming, then men’s weapons will grow dull and their ardor will be damped. If you lay siege to a town, you will exhaust your strength.

3. Again, if the campaign is protracted, the resources of the State will not be equal to the strain.

4. Now, when your weapons are dulled, your ardor damped, your strength exhausted and your treasure spent, other chieftains will spring up to take advantage of your extremity. Then no man, however wise, will be able to avert the consequences that must ensue.

I wonder if Cruz realizes he just angered a whole lot of voters with that comment? I too have a family member with ciliac disease.

When they holler cuts in the military it really isn't cuts at all. It just means they didn't get their INCREASE.

Here is probably why he voted against the INCREASE

With $8.5 Trillion Unaccounted for, Why Should Congress Increase the Defense Budget?

there seems to be limited evidence that - outside of celiac disease - gluten is bad for our health
