Looking at SC election law, and considering "the pledge", Trump might just be telegraphing to the RNC that it has a role in the eligibility question, and if Trump sues Cruz, he will also sue the RNC and/or its satellite state party operations.

SC state law prohibits the party from putting ineligible names up for the primary ballot. See SC Law section 7-11-20(B)(2)(b), "Political parties must not certify any candidate who does not or will not by the time of the general election meet the qualifications in the United States Constitution ..."

Anyway, agreeing with you. His remarks relating to the pledge that he would support whoever the nominee is, he "needs justification" (just politically, the agreement isn't enforceable in a court of law) to renege on that. Obviously, if he is suing a fellow candidate, he would not support that candidate in the general.

Didn’t he make some big stink about signing a contract not to run 3rd party?

He flops around so much I can’t keep track.

Is the threat to sue if Cruz doesn’t treat him better Mr. Trump’s red line like the red line Obama drew in Syria.

Cruz needs to settle this question right away.

By doing what? There isn't anything for him to do.

Trump is an absolute ass. How anyone on here can support the guy is mind boggling. He is destroying the party and any chance there is to win back the presidency. Probably what he has wanted all along. I am sure he lies in bed at night laughing at those who support him.

His sycophants here have expressed zero interest in the “advice” he may have been given by Bill Clinton or what kind of deal may have been worked out.

On the same day he won the Republican Iowa caucus, Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas got a favorable decision from the Illinois Board of Elections, which ruled that he met the citizenship criteria to appear on the state’s primary ballot.

Two objectors, Lawrence Joyce and William Graham, had challenged Cruz’s presidential bid with the board, contending that his name should not appear on the March 15 ballot because his candidacy did not comply with Article II of the Constitution.

Adopting the recommendations of a hearing officer who considered the matter last week, the board of elections on Monday rejected both objections, ruled Cruz eligible and ordered that his name be certified for the election.

“The Candidate is a natural born citizen by virtue of being born in Canada to his mother who was a U.S. citizen at the time of his birth,” the board said, reasoning that Cruz met the criteria because he “did not have to take any steps or go through a naturalization process at some point after birth.”

Before the primaries I had No idea Ted was born of a Cuban father and an American mother that chose to live in Canada. I also didn’t know he was born in Canada. Reminds me of Obama’s birth circumstances.

He said today that the RNC have not held up their part of that contract so that means he doesn't have to hold it up anymore.

Just think about how he would deal with contracts signed with say Iraq or Russia.

Trumpy will pout and blame his staff and the American people for any failure on his part.

“LIE = Nowhere did Trump say he was going to run as a third party candidate.
Truth - Trump signed a pledge, but the GOPe and others have spent huge amounts on attack ads filled with half truth and lies.
Question- If Trump wins will the GOPe support him?”

When you make an early commitment, you can be distracted by the lipstick and be blind to that pigs real lips.

Donald Trump backs out of pledge, open to third party run

HEDGING HIS PLEDGE: The Donald’s fans would no doubt follow him if he splits from the GOP to run as an independent.
In the least surprising news of the election cycle, Donald Trump signaled today that he would happily back out of his signed pledge to support the eventual Republican nominee and not run as an independent if he doesn’t win the nomination. The pledge, negotiated with a petrified Republican party in an embarrassing charade last December, was never worth the paper it was printed on.

Brad Mielke of ABC News reports that Donald Trump said today: “I signed a pledge, but it’s a double-edged pledge. As far as I’m concerned they’re in default of their pledge.”

Are ya living under a rock?

Ted NEVER tried to hide it.

Spoke often of it before he was even in the Senate.

“Clark, the little twinkle lights aren’t twinkling.”

Thanks bean counter. ; ) It doesn’t really matter who helped him write it. It seems to be one of the better ways to predict his future moves and explain his previous moves.
