Yes, it happened! More than 2,000 brave souls plunged into the Atlantic Ocean at 2 p.m. Saturday as part of Sea Isle City's 22nd annual Polar Bear Plunge.
Temperatures were about 20 degrees in this Cape May County town on the Jersey Shore, according to weather reports. Katherine Custer, a city spokeswoman, said the cold-weather event "attracts many people from all walks of life."
The plunge is a fundraiser for the Sea Isle City Chamber of Commerce and Revitalization and benefits events the organization hosts in the community, Custer said.
On Sunday, there will be a Polar Bear Run-Walk for Autism, an autism charity.

Go ahead, I’ll keep an eye on the hot cocoa.
Bitter cold here in New York City. Just heard on the radio that the windchill factor for tonight or overnight into tomorrow will be MINUS 22!
Warmest winter EVER*

The water temp is probably in the mid 40s but with 40 mph gusts and low air temp, there is the possibility of near instant frostbite once they get out of the water. The reason is that evaporation of the water off the skin will suck more BTUs out of the skin causing a major drop in skin temp.

Done it but rolling around in the snow nekkid with yer gal after sauna is better.
I used to jump in the lakes of Minjiesoda as the ice was going out in the spring. But I was young and dumb then.. That was invigorating enough for me.
The last place my wifey would be rolling in is snow. Regardless of suana or hot tub. :-)
LOL
None of this was my idea.
Danged Swedes
People didn't mean for you to take them literally:)
Well somebody will always eventually die. Even if you had an annual contest for sitting down and doing nothing, at some point, somebody will die doing so.
