Draft registration is largely a red herring because the draft isn't going to happen anyway. But has Ted made a clear statement on whether he thinks women should be permitted in ground combat units? Or is he just against drafting them?
I'm honestly asking because I don't know.
Men don’t let women do their fighting.
Real Men protect their women and children.
And right now, I fell like we're letting them down because we seem to be losing badly on this issue.
If wartime requires it, draft ‘em. There are plenty of support jobs women can handle as well as or better than men, freeing those men to go out and fight. Some non-contact combat jobs, too, like drone jockeys, radar, missile batteries, communications...
Bingo, we have a winner.
Libs have been apoplectic that they haven’t been able to get a good anti-war movement going ever since the military became all-volunteer. In their minds the specter of women being drafted would have so many protests breaking out, the CIC could NEVER take us to war again.
They are also likely trying to make this a moot point before attempting to revive the Equal Rights Amendment again.
Every member of the military is supposed to be a fighter.
When your position is overrun, the put the cooks and clerks on the line with a gun.
Real men protect their women and children and tell the feminists to go to hell!
Sorry, as an former US Army Infantryman I can tell you that is NOT the case. Most non-combat roles only get a very basic introduction to weapons and have no concepts of how to fight as a member of an Infantry squad.
It’s a shame that they have a static concept of the battlefield.
They don’t understand the targeting of the entire battle space, that there is no safe location.
Therefore, every troop needs to be a warrior.
And men are to protect their women and children. What’s wrong with today’s man? Have they really become this emasculated?
I disagree, maybe if a few thousand women died in combat, they might view the world a bit more seriously, and not like spoiled little princesses.
Oh be serious.
Why are they taught? Because there is no such thing as ‘lines’ and when the shit hits the fan there is no such thing as security and the replacements first grabbed are the replacements closest by.
And real men would be sick that they let a woman die doing a man’s duty to protect his women and children that she was ill equipped to do.
There are so many cowards
Easy - just institute and enforce gender-neutral physical requirements for those roles.
I’m totally opposed to women in combat and the draft, but how else can one point out the insanity of this “equality” nonsense? Women are not just smaller men without penises. The only way to stop this politically is to take it all the way. Women want to be treated the same as men? Force them to register for Selective Service.
What the feminists really want is power over men—not equality. No! Women don’t get to pick and choose while men are drafted. That’s not equality.
Don’t even get me started on the “a woman should be able to serve in combat if she meets the same standards” nonsense!
Okay, and what about the much larger numbers of young men defending their country who would die from this insanity as well? Do their lives mean so little to you that you’d toss them away just to score points on some feminists?
Well, you don’t start by letting your precious young women die.
Tough, than have them serve in support, let them spend a few years in Afghanistan, and Iraq.
Exactly. Great point.
If you built military units with KNOWN weak links, then the strong links will die more easily.
But too many so-called men are willing to hide behind their sisters’ skirts in our era.
Are we becoming a nation of cowards?
That would require actually screening out based on the rules, which I am sure would be declared illegal due to disparate impact on women.
To institute an administrative rule that says women can be drafted alongside men, but cannot be drafted for combat arms, is not defensible. Performance-based measures would have to be decided based on individual performance.
Legally, I do not see how this latest affront to proper gender roles doesn’t have enormous negative consequences.
