As a professional historian, if I was younger and wanted a good research project, that would be a great research topic. I suspect it was either in the 80s or 90s as American heavy industry got hollowed out and in cost-cutting measures business had to engage illegals, especially Simpson Mazzoli
THANK YOU!
The Trump phenomenon is emotional, and political only in the sense that the emotions guide the politics.
It’s the political correctness. Donald Trump seems to represent possibly our only hope to finally slay this dragon.
We can’t open doors for our women, or compliment them on how they look in the workplace. We can’t say certain words, we can’t profile criminals in a sane way. We-re human, we can’t stop thinking the thoughts we think when encountering a Muslim in a mall, or an airline queue. And we’re made to feel guilty about it. Hate crimes? Really? We’ve had to silently acquiesce to having our thoughts monitored, our words corrected.
We instinctively recognize now that PC is far from harmless. It threatens the family unit, salts racial wounds, changed the relationships between men and women, and not for the better.
We’ve been angry about it for some time. With the Muslim problem, PC threatens to kill us. So we’re afraid, angry, frustrated, and we’ve been inwardly seething.
We instinctively sense that no solutions to the myriad problems we face as individuals and as a nation can be contemplated without first eliminating the PC that holds us back. Donald Trump is pushing back, and it is so liberating, intoxicating even.
This is why we continue to give him a pass on his not-so-staunch conservatism. This is why the pundits keep predicting his premature demise. They’re looking at him, instead of us.

Cruz is working for the GOPe?
Ha, ha, ha. LOL.
Cruz has dug in his heels and fought them over, and over, and over.
Did you live in a cave for the past several years and just check back in on the political landscape to participate in the presidential election?
“The majority of his donors are Wall Street.”
Yeah, unlike Hillary and Bernie. Do you think this proves something?
Here is a comparison of the types of donations the candidates are getting:
While I recognize that Wall Street, our patent system, treaties on intellectual property, and international trade are issues that need a lot of improvement, treating these things like we, as a nation, ought to go back to being an agricultural society and isolate ourselves from the rest of the world is complete lunacy.
We need a president that understands Wall Street and does not treat it as the bogie man like the current president does. Cruz and Trump understand it. Both have economic plans that will benefit all of us financially.
Shouldn’t Wall Street, small business owners, and average Americans be donating to Cruz? Why do you think that this is some sort of conspiracy? Here is the policy and voting record of Cruz on the economy:

And then they call US names!
Amen!
Yep!!
You're right - insightful...
Defining:
Did the GOP secure the border with control of the White House and Congress? NO.
Did the GOP balance the budget with control of the White House and Congress? NO
Did the GOP even pass a FY 2016 budget with control of the House and Senate? NO.
I agree that it is insightful but I can’t take credit.
wayoverontheright said it. I merely copied it in my response.
Boo-Yaa!
My sentiments exactly. Although I think he was probably nicer about it than I would have been.
But yea - SPOT ON!
