Manchester, New Hampshire (CNN)Donald Trump estimated on Tuesday that it will cost about $8 billion to build the wall he has promised to erect on the U.S.'s southern border if elected president.
Trump has vowed to force Mexico to pay for the border wall and said Tuesday on MSNBC that the hefty $8 billion price tag "is a tiny fraction of the money that we lose with Mexico" on trade.
"The wall is probably $8 billion, which is a tiny fraction of the money that we lose with Mexico. We lose a tremendous amount of trade deficits. We have a trade deficit with Mexico that is astronomical, much bigger than that. We will get -- and I say it also is also part of my plan -- Mexico is going to play for the wall," he said.
Trump's proposal to build a wall on the U.S.'s southern border and his hardline immigration policies have become central to the billionaire's presidential campaign. But Tuesday marked the first time he has tacked a specific dollar amount to his border wall proposal.
Trump said he came up with the figure by "multiplying the number of miles by a certain number."
"I'm taking price per square foot and price per square, you know, per mile, and it's a very simple calculation," Trump said, noting that he would need to erect about 1,000 miles of border wall along the 2,000-mile long border because of natural barriers along certain parts.
Trump's pledge to make Mexico pay for the wall drew harsh criticism just days earlier from former Mexican President Felipe Calderon.

An accurate estimate, based upon Israel’s cost for completely sealing their border with Egypt. Infiltrators — mostly Muslim African migrants — then decreased from 35,000 in 2014 t0 a mere 26 in 2015.
That’s all?! Just tax Western Union 50% for all funds originating in the United States going to Mexico, and you can build a fence on the northern border with Canada too!
Heck! He could use the H1B's that Cruz is so in favor of.

Mexico. Illegal aliens cost us close to $200 billion a year and that doesn’t include the costs in lives and property wrought by criminal alien crime. There are millions of American citizen victims and tens of thousands killed by illegal aliens.

$8 bil for the initial contract and then about $6 bil to subcontractors who will hire illegals to do a half-assed job of it for $4 bil.
How about the cost rounding up and deporting millions of illegals.
Of course, there’s the cost of the many lawsuits that will ensue as well as the cost of processing the touchback’s legalization upon return.
What’s that cost?

A border fence will cost Mexico much less than 8 Billion dollars to build.
What Trump is saying to Mexico is - build the fence and we will make sure you receive 8 billion in gifts in kind . You build it for less and you can keep the rest.
Mexico will build the fence in record time.
It's no skin off Mexico's nose, they have already exported as many of their poor, illiterate to the US as they can. They have not many more people available to send North.
Many illegals are from South and Central America these days and Mexico is building a wall on THEIR Southern border to stop them from entering and trashing Mexico.
Heck, Mexico could build a fence on their Southern and Northern borders for * billion and still have plenty left over for enough mordida to feather the nests of every one of Mexico's pols who matter
Absolutely.
In lower wages alone. Havent looked at where you are from, but I live in AZ where I have seen dirt labor working at concrete jobs for minimum wages-compared to 15 to 18 bucks and hour for average concrete workers. And thats not union scale either!
Then, one would think that the develpoers would pass the cost savings down to the purchaser of the home? NOPE, the raised the prices. Then, when those houses did not sell, they defaulted on the construction loans. About 5500 in Mohave county alone.
Who cares? Round em up and deport them and let them worry about legal representation. I could care less. Or stick em in a detention center while they wait 2 years for their hearing, with the option to go home in lieu of their hearing. I just don’t care anymore.
Hell. I will volunteer to run equipment to build the thing! Gimme a excavator and the fuel, lay out the line and I will do it.
What’s he telling us for, Mexico is going to build it.
And Trump will make the Mexicans pay for it! That’s a great indicator of just how gullible he thinks his followers are.
