With an ax rather than a scalpel, Australia's federal science agency last week chopped off its climate research arm in a decision that has stunned scientists and left employees dispirited.
As many as 110 out of 140 positions at the atmosphere and oceans division will be cut, Larry Marshall, the agency's chief executive, told staff Friday.
"The situation is very bad here," the scientist said. "Eighty percent of our climate capability will be gone; it is clear that climate modeling will be cut completely."

The data has been altered. The model has been fudged. The dire predictions have been made. The science is settled. These people are no longer needed.
When’s the last the USA federal government cut government jobs? Reagan?
They cut 110 global warming jobs? Oh man, that’s cold.
You can’t risk someone jumping off the bandwagon and telling the truth. Now any dissenters will be disgruntled former employees and easy to dismiss.
Maybe the scientists with a brain that didn’t fall for the scam and came to other conclusions will speak up now that they’ve lost their jobs.

Why should the government fund climate modeling when it has proven to be less accurate than reading palms and tea leaves?
About as scientific as me predicting my kid's height at age 6...and 10....and 15.
Dismay around the world - so-called climate science is supposed to be a perpetual taxpayer-funded gravy train.

LOL...that’s great. If the “science” is settled, there’s no need for thousands of government sponsored weather hacks to keep their jobs. The money saved can be used to build stilts under all the buildings in NYC, putting their money where their mouths are.
Only those who keep track of new entitlement applications in Australia.
