If you’re saying the silent majority has had it, and isn’t going to take it any more, I think you’ve got it exactly right.

Trump took out Jeb, Christie took out Bubble Boy. That made it a good night.

Cruz in his own words:
“So, in terms of a practical solution, I’ve laid out the most detailed plan for solving illegal immigration. It’s 11 pages, single-spaced, chapter and verse. It’s on our website, tedcruz.org.
In short, we are going to do, we are going to build a wall. We are going to triple the border patrol. We are going to increase — and actually, since Donald enjoyed that, I will simply say, I’ve got somebody in mind to build it.
We are going to increase four-fold, the fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft, so that you have technology monitoring an attempted incursion to direct the boots on the ground where they are occurring. We are going to put in place a strong e-verify system in the workplace, so you can’t get a job without proving you are here legally.
We will put in place a biometric exit-entry system on visas, because 40 percent of illegal immigration comes not over the border illegally, but people coming on visas and overstaying.
We will end sanctuary cities by cutting off taxpayer dollars to any jurisdiction that defies federal immigration law.
After audience applause Cruz added. And we will end welfare benefits for those here illegally.”

Wonderful!

Fact is that Trump is a good businessman but he is really unfit for POTUS... He will never be my 1st choice, but he is far above Rubio0bama! ;)

Christie smacked him hard didn’t he. Wow.

Bush overplayed his hand and look like an impudent child.

I thought that was the high point of the debate. Cruz was masterful. Trump wiped out Bush and the stacked deck audience. Christie had his best night yet. Carson looked like he was on a tranquilizer.

...So who is gaming the polls?
****************************
Great question. I personally didn’t rank Trump #1 because of all of his negative comments against others and particularly because of his barb at Cruz about stealing votes from Carson.

Cruz had zero negatives in my rankings, as he never attacked any of the others. .....I loved seeing Rubio coming unglued when he was shown to be an idiot with memorized talking points (something I’ve posted about previously).

It’s distressing to see so many “conservatives” jumping on the populist bandwagon for a candidate who is clearly not conservative on monumental issues. Even more distressing to see them participate in the daily slander of the candidate who is clearly the most conservative and knowledgeable about the things that need to be corrected if we are to undo the stateist damage done,,, Trump doesn’t have the understanding or the inclination to be a constitutional conservative and yet here we are,,,

Octex, I disagree with your view on Trump, but from your perspective that’s how you see it and that’s ok with me.

For some reason, people on the Internet don’t seem yo agree with you.

Some say the Internet polls are being gamed. I can’t think of an entity out there that would be inclined to do it.

I know that is how it appears to you, and I can understand why.

None the less, I think Trump will pleasantly surprise you. He is not looking to reconstruct our government against our ideals.

He is focused on righting some wrongs and addressing problems that have gone unaddressed for 25 years.

You trust Cruz far more the I do. I have seen some things about him that cause me not to believe he is as much one of us as he would like us to believe.

Others agree with you more than I do, but not everyone by any means.

Phyllis Schlafley’s is a bedrock Conservative and has been for fifty years. She trusts Trump, and says he’s the right man for the job. A lot of good people have come out in support of Trump, so either he’s better than you think, or everyone has simply gone crazy all at once.

I think Trump will surprise you for the better.

Trump could have pleasantly surprised me by denouncing his previously espoused views on universal health care,,, but he didn’t. He could have pleasantly surprised me by shunning his previous participation in crony capitalism by taking the principled position on ethanol subsidies, but he didn’t. So far all I’m seeing is an opportunist who managed to tap into the anti-establishment rage over immigration and political correctness, then parlayed that momentum into a bandwagon movement of people desirous of riding that wave into a victory over the democrats at any cost. We do have to win first, I get that, but I’m afraid that in riding this populist wave we will be very disappointed in what we’ve elected.

Cruz won hands down with flying colors. He had incredibly nuanced, well-informed answers full of policy depth and rooted in conservative ideology. He stayed away from cheap food fight attacks. Other people had shallow answers, sloganeering, empty rhetoric and nitpicking critiques of the other candidates. Cruz elevated the political discourse in this debate to something everyone, especially conservatives can be proud of. Everyone else gave us politics as usual or in the case of Trump, dumber than usual.
