John Young was the command module pilot on Apollo 10,and remained in orbit while Gene Cernan and Tom Stafford approached but did not land. Young went on to command Apollo 16 and Cernan commanded Apollo 17.
Jim Lovell was the Command module pilot on Apollo 8, which orbitted the Moon ,as well as being the commander of Apollo 13.
