Congressman Eckersley calls e-mail a hoax, says he’s still in the race (AUDIO)

Southwest Missouri Congressional candidate Scott Eckersley blames the campaign staff of his Republican opponent for issuing a hoax that he had suspended his campaign.

An e-mail sent to news media outlets and a "tweet" issued by a fake Twitter account announced that Eckersley had suspended his campaign due to personal reasons.

Eckersley blames his opponent, Republican Billy Long, for sending out the hoax days before the election.

"You know this is dirty politics. This is Jeff Roe style management. That's who Billy's retained. That's who he writes the big checks to," Eckersley tells Missourinet affiliate KTTS. "This is Kansas City management doing what they do best, which is playing dirty."

Jeff Roe is Cruz' campaign manager and it looks like he's pulled this suspending campaign thing before. He once was accused of causing an opponent to commit suicide in Missouri because of a vicious anti-semitic ad.

Hard to believe Billy could think up something like this.

I remember the suicide story. I’m surprised he’s not political poison. Looks like he got a promotion instead.

This is the EXACT same thing they did to Carson ... a tweet, an email ... the question is why would Cruz hire him if he didn't want his dirty tricks? The second question is what would all the Christians supporting Cruz think about this kind of behavior?

Who knows? The "shaming" campaign letter doesn't seem to have bothered them.

Well, Jeff Roe may have shown his hand a little soon in the primaries for it to be beneficial beyond Iowa. The candidates know now and he will have to think of a new dirty trick.

Wow, amazing what turns up when you start peeling the layers off the onion. What can look perfect on the outside turns out to be rotten in the middle.

Politics is tough business. Not for the weak. Trump’s ego doesn’t work in this world. Every campaign deals with opponents aggressive tactics. Just recently one accused his opponent of not being an American and being just a nasty person. Dragged the guy through the mud. He also accused another guy of having mental disease psychotic. Pretty harsh words about a good man.

I do believe Cruz is a nasty person when the cameras aren't rolling, I don't know enough to have an opinion about the Canada stuff, but I do agree about the terrible comments about Ben Carson, not happy about those at all. None of that excuses Cruz who refers to himself as a Principled Conservative.

Not sure how Scott Eckersley became "Congressman Eckersley?" Who made that up? He never was.

In fact, he recently pled guilty to felony theft charges in Utah.

Virtually everyone above the age of 17 in Missouri has been accused of causing Tom Schweich to kill himself.

I just copied the link as it was written, visit it if you wish. Actually, no I don't think everyone in Missouri has been accused of causing Schweich to kill himself. That's a crass thing to say.

**CLAYTON, Mo. - Former U.S. Sen. Jack Danforth on Tuesday remembered Tom Schweich as a sensitive friend and extraordinary public servant - driven to suicide, he said, by political bullies and an anti-Semitic whisper campaign. "Words do hurt. Words can kill," Danforth said at a memorial service attended by many of the state's leading political figures. "That has been proven right here in our home state."

I take it that means you were okay with the antisemitic rumors, also.

listen to the ad. I try not to have opinions before I check out the facts the best I am able.

Already visited the link. Which is why I asked.

Tom Schweich was a Christian.

I voted for him for auditor. A fine man. Best resume for Governor of Missouri out there. A numbers cruncher. Law man. None finer.

Eckersley on the other hand....

I had read nice things about Scweich. I only chose the Eckersly article to make the point these kinds of tricks were a mainstay of Jeff Roe then and now.
