The False Claim that Rubio Can Unite the GOP
Lifezette ^ | Feb 3, 2016 | Keith Koffler

You can feel it in the Republican Establishment, the sense that Sen. Marco Rubio’s solid third-place finish in Iowa is the moment the locusts cleared, the boils healed, the frogs jumped away, and the waters parted. Delivered into Sinai, Republicans of finer character got to watch as boorish Trumpites and the Cruzians were swallowed up at last by Nile.

But in order to make it to the Promised Land, the Establishment still needs Rubio to win — or at least place a strong second — in New Hampshire. And for that, some spin of Biblical proportions will be necessary.

Part of that is the message that Rubio is not simply the Establishment’s choice, but the man who can bring all Republicans into the Big Tent and galvanize a united GOP to march over Hillary or Bernie into the White House.

“The amazing surge for Marco Rubio shows that the Republican electorate has not gone collectively insane,” waxed a condescending David Brooks in the New York Times. “He is the only candidate who can plausibly unify the party.”

Billionaire Republican donor Frank VanderSloot told CNN Wednesday he’d be going “all out” for Rubio, who he said could “unite” the Party and be an effective president, even though the nation had already experimented with a first-term Senator in the West Wing. “I believe that Obama has demonstrated that a young senator can get a lot of stuff done,” said VanderSloot, who was a national finance co-chairman for Mitt Romney’s 2008 and 2012 presidential campaigns.

"Except, Marco Rubio isn’t going to unite anything, other than the Establishment. He is, rather, exactly the problem the conservative base, which comprises a majority of the GOP, is adamantly rejecting this election cycle."

No uniparty establishment candidate will. If they screw us again I will rejoice the party going down in flames. They have more to lose than i do.

We are in the second state. The news medias are going nuts. The voters will decide who our nominee is. That is how it is done everytime. The media does not pick, the party does not pick, Congress does not pick, president does not pick. THE VOTERS PICK! So they will make this decision for our nominee.

Be braced, because if TRUMP is ever pushed out, the vote will go to Rubio. Cruz’ scorched earth tactics have burned his future, as second choice.

That can honestly be said of both Trump and Cruz - at least for their supporters.

I can honestly say I'd rather stay home than vote for lying Mario.

He is a known quantity.

I suspect there is also something behind these rumors about Marco that keep coming up. Of course the real dirt won’t come out until it can do the most strategic damage.

So you’re saying that they’d take the PRO-AMNESTY Rubio, even though Trump has been arguably the most ANTI-AMNESTY candidate in the race, way to have principles Trump voters (in that scenario).

And no, I see more scorch earth from Trump than Cruz, but admittedly there has been a little on both fronts..

I cracked up listening the Clinton’s wife’s screeching rant the other night. She said she was going to “unite” the country and then went on to bash Republicans, conservatives and various other Americans. What a ditz.
