Lt. General Sean MacFarland told Pentagon reporters today in a video-conference from Baghdad that the U.S. is bound by the laws of armed conflict and “at the end of the day, you know, it doesn’t only matter whether or not you win, it matters how you win."
“We’re the United States of America and we have a set of guiding principles,†MacFarland added. “And those affect the way we as professional soldiers, airmen, sailors and Marines conduct ourselves on the battlefield. So, indiscriminate bombing, where we don’t care if we’re killing innocents or combatants, is just inconsistent with our values.â€

Carpet bombing is counter-productive and a waste of resources. Especially since we’re not at war with a Nation-state.

and of course this is exactly the kind of career obsessed military officer the Obama administration has kept in place and promoted these last 7 or 8 years. after Obama is out of there there needs to be a real purge of the military rank to get rid of the political compliant people that this administration, the Obama administration has allowed to entrench
and of course they’ll all be singing a different tune the day after the next big attack strikes home
We’ve been fighting wars this way since World War 2 under Uniparty Democrat and Republican Presidents.
They fight wars the United Nations way, the limited way, the no-win, no victory way.
And it stinks whether a bunch of hippie anti-war types oppose the limited wars or those political leaders waging the limited wars wrap them in patriotism, love of country and love of our military.
Those "laws" apparently didn't apply to the fire bombing of Hamburg, Dresden and Tokyo or the nuking of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. What a jerk!
That is the kind of thinking that’s going to get us all killed.

The Next President needs to cashier every officer who didn't tell Obama to go F*** himself. They put their careers ahead of the service, and the country does not need such people in the Military.
They should have resigned. Now they need to be forced out, and it needs to be made clear to the Military officers that their careers should not come before what is in the best interest of the Nation and it's armed services.
That’s exactly their plan.
I wonder if he is just another Obama butt boy? With attitudes like that, we could never have won World War II.
