I will pray for the daughter. I will also practice (as I do almost every day) what to do if someone tries an armed home invasion. The Second Amendment is not about hunting or even target/trap/skeet shooting. It’s about self-defense and other aspects of the security of a free state.

Hope that everyone comes out of this OK. Sounds bad so far.

I personally know of three families that experienced home invasions where they had no idea about the identity of the attackers or why they were being victimized.
In all three cases it was "urban youth" perpetrating the crime against decent, hard-working, normal folks.

In one of the crimes, the innocent homeowner had just gotten dressed for work and was eating cereal for breakfast and was murdered.
I have envisioned and practiced my response (for my own home) for years...so that my body will hopefully go on "muscle memory" if ever needed, heaven forbid.

The daughter had been dating one of the two — local stories seem to indicate he thought she was cheating on him, and that there were already stolen checks involved... she could well be running, but my guess is they probably killed her before trying to rob and murder her parents too!

I found myself initially disappointed in my response to an actual “issue” last year, since I thought I froze for too long. I have no doubt that I froze for more than one second, but that’s still not as bad as it seemed. The 30-second YouTube commercial that was on when the issue started was still playing when I finished everything urgent and was waiting for 9-1-1 to answer.

One little thing changed from the situations that I had imagined, and it threw me off, or it’s just natural to take a moment when the unexpected hits. I still was ready in less time than it would take to sprint from the door to where I was when the issue started, and I would have “won” against anyone who didn’t shoot first. I wonder just how fast attackers would move in the real situation - I’m guessing fast but also that they would take a few seconds to break a door down.

The difference between zero warning and two seconds of warning is huge. The difference between a locked door and no lock is exactly as big. The difference between planning for a single contingency and imagining multiple situations helps with a fast response when fractional seconds matter.

These are, what the founders would have described as, “domestic enemies of the Constitution”.

I wonder how many people know who Henry Bowman is. Only subversives read Unintended Consequences. You’re probably on the terrorist watch list.

I learned from my dad, nowhere in our house were we more than 6 feet from a firearm at all times. They were out of usual sight but there none the less and he made sure we knew where they were and they were set to go.

Not long after my dad died, someone tried to kick down our kitchen door. My mom was having coffee with two neighborhood ladies. She did not do the right thing, they pushed back on the door, yelled and kept the bum out. I asked my mom why she did not put the POS to dirt and she said, I thought perhaps he may have been lost or something. Of course I was 1500 miles away so the guy managed to get away unscathed. My mom was left with a door replacement bill and the will to finally move away.

Oh, I know I’m on several lists. I do own a registered silencer, after all.

Is the registration for a silencer or a suppressor ?

I am within 10 seconds of my gun at all times.

My wife has mixed feelings about guns, won't touch them, doesn't want to see them, but wants me to be ready when issues come up. I can still get one in under ten seconds, but I have to accommodate her wishes too. Her views changed a lot last year, but not as much as I would like.

I would not be surprised if everyone who comes in here regularly is on a list...

Get her to the range and get her a gun she feels comfortable with. Mr. GG2 carries an XDM I can’t even fit my hands around. I carry a Keltec PMR 30 .22mag. It does not have the knock down but then there is the 30 round magazine. :-) I can handle it proficiently.
