Facing skepticism about his foreign policy expertise, Bernie Sanders said on Sunday that he speaks to "many, many, many people" who provide him with advice on the subject. But the sole person Sanders cited by name told POLITICO that he's spoken to Sanders only one time recently. "I was asked to go over and speak with him just once, which I did," said Lawrence J. Korb, a senior fellow at the Center for American Progress. Korb said the wide-ranging conversation "probably" occurred in December.

A guy who parlayed a smidgen of military service and even less academic training into a huge career as the left’s go to guy on “defense”. It’s as if his chief medical advisor was a former ambulance drive, who later had a career selling medical insurance.

For most of the past 40 years, our presidents have been governors or first-term senators: Carter, Reagan, Clinton, Bush II, and Obama. None of them first entered the White House with any foreign policy experience to speak of.

Now, you can argue that's why our foreign policy has so often been misguided, but the press usually uses this issue is a "gotcha" for someone they don't like (Palin), not as a test they apply equally and fairly.
