During 1942 I was ordered to a group called USCG Harbor Boarding Detail——we went out with the Pilot Boat to board foreign freighters coming into new York and seal their radios, remain on board until the left the harbor or tied up at a pier-—we were issued 45’s without ammo (needed for the troops in war zones) and were told to ‘throw the pistol’ at anyone who might turn out to be an enemy, if we got into a firefight??, since we had no ammo——was a standing joke among those of us who were assigned to this detail——cheers

Bludgeoning with the .45 came from a 1943 manual on hand to hand techniques. The firer grips the empty pistol normally (after releasing the slide) and whacks the enemy upside the head either forehand or backhand. A cartoon German & cartoon Jap are shown getting knocked senseless by a .45 laid across the chops.
I think it was Thomas Sowell who pointed out that the rash of gun buying in the US can’t just be explained as a public fearing that the right to buy one might be restricted or taken away, but rather is indicative of a public preparing to go to war.
The entire economy is in the tank, unless you are selling guns, ammo, and long term food.

That’s what I’ve been saying about Trump all along. People flock to him because he exudes masculinity, a trait that’s in short supply these days. We know if push comes to shove, he’ll protect us, not throw us under the short bus that Obummer panders to.
