Millions of young adults healthy enough to think they don't need insurance face painful choices this year as the sign-up deadline approaches for President Barack Obama's health care law.
Fines for being uninsured rise sharply in 2016 - averaging nearly $1,000 per household, according to an independent estimate. It's forcing those in their 20s and 30s to take a hard look and see if they can squeeze in coverage to avoid penalties. Many are trying to establish careers or just make progress in a still-bumpy economy.
The minimum penalty rises to $695 in 2016 for someone uninsured a full 12 months and not eligible for one of the law's exemptions. That's more than double the corresponding figure of $325 for 2015.

Free Healthcare!!!!!
ELECTIONS HAVE CONSEQUENCES.
The Democrats pray that the young don’t figure this out this year.
I finally got full & comprehensive health care insurance , that I EARNED , as a full time employee , and not as an applicant for Obama Care or subsidies . However my full med coverage kicked in right before the last days of 2015 . I am subject the fines anyway ? Even though I enter 2016 being fully covered . Any way to avoid such fines when you file ?
What happens if you simply refuse to pay ?
Bernie was just on the National Baloney Corporation evening news with Lester Holt and he spoke of how he’s in excellent health because he was a long-distance runner in high school and college.
The 1880’s must have been great.
It never was about health care, but insurance, and the insurance I had (yes, had) will no longer be offered by the company I have had the policy with for close to 20 years.
So I won't have insurance. So the Government is going to fine me for breathing without it.
Considering the future of Obamacare hinged on whether the penalty was a penalty or a tax, and that the government is now calling it a penalty in televised advertisements, this should be brought for reconsideration by the court.
I will say leftys with gold plated health care tend to live a long time. (Soros, Carter, Castro, etc).
I could easily see Burney around for a couple more decades.
Wait to all of those millenials who chose not to pay the fine find out what the penalty on that is.
It’s like a loan shark who didn’t make a loan in the first place but wants the payment and penalties.
See? The 1880’s WERE great!!!
Milineals. They idoloized 0bama, the voted for him, the made the rest of suffer. Now it’s their turn to feel the pain.
There are a raft of exemptions available to those who want a waiver.
What do you think happens if you refuse to pay the IRS.
If you weren't insured in 2015, you will owe the penalty for that year - it is calculated on a monthly basis for each month that year that you weren't insured, and you do an income comparison to see whether you owe the minimum penalty or an income based penalty.
What happens if you simply refuse to pay ?

The IRS takes it out of your income tax refund, it is the only collection method. See that you have no refund coming.
They can’t get it from you if you owe them, only if you have a refund coming. So make sure you owe them a few bucks at the end of the year. Also, if you have any utility cutoff notices from last year, you can get an exemption from the mandate and the fine.
Regardless of the Roberts twisting, either way is blatantly unconstitutional. Even as a tax, a power I agree Congress possesses, it still must be for those it has A1S8 authority.
2nd, it was never about h-care NOR insurance. It IS about CONTROL. Game. Set. Match.
Lastly, I fail to see the courts touch this w/ a 10-ft pole/next 50 years. Like abortion, they know they have NO validation, no original standing and would have the public @ their throats (IE: Govt now “taking away a ‘right’ of the People”).
Obamacare fines are on the books, Bernie can't get rid of them himself, he needs congress. He also needs congress to make single payer into law.
