to me they are (1) underlying points there is in the vast majority of cases NOT great dispute on by some other GOP candidates, and (2) on those points others have articulated a better understanding and a clearer policy, which makes zero advantage of Trump over them in my view.
The U.S. White House does not need another arrogant ego of an occupant. One was enough.
I did not ask you what Reagan said on trade. I asked how his “policies” were protectionist. I don’t really recall our trade balance with Japan changing all that much during Reagan’s two terms. If I remember correctly, it was a big issue when G.H. Bush took office right after Reagan.
Well, having been an importer myself, I believe I have some bit of experience internationally. Bush allowed the devaluation of the Dollar. What good did it really do us? We have not made a good trade deal for eons and each which has been made has done so with the intent and purpose to force us into larger and larger pacts which diminish or destroy our Sovereignty. Yes, I DO know a thing or two about trade and the business decline we are facing. It’s why I got out of the business.
We are being drained financially-economically if you will, on all levels. I am looking for a bull in a china shop to break some dishes, ruin some ingrained beliefs that need changing, especially as far as China is concerned, and get us back into a position of strength. Do you hear what you are saying? You are telling me we have to continue to be beaten and robbed by China because we can’t do anything about it. Well, I think we can. We’re not going to do it with a politician. Our only chance is with a businessman who knows how the system works!
Our own manufacturers—what few we have left—are already ready to abandon ship in order to survive. You are saying nothing can be done to keep them here and nothing can be done to bring some back from overseas into our country. Sorry, I don’t agree. I’m not a defeatest. If I wasn’t a fighter, I’d be dead.
O love this joint!
I think Trump is far to experienced and shrewd to bully his way.
He can make suggestions that will carry a lot of weight especially if he has allies that have similar problems with china
He need not go to figurative war
“I did not ask you what Reagan said on trade. I asked how his âpoliciesâ were protectionist.”
What Reagan SAID was an indication of his thinking.
Reagan’s protectionists policies certainly don’t lend themselves to explanation inside this little box. That article I directed you to was written by a person who did not like Reagan’s protectionist policies. He reels off quite a number in his article, which was written in 1988.
Sessions would make a great president but couldn’t get elected. Make him AG and then put him on Supreme Court.
