For the candidate in second in this presidential race, Ted Cruz, there has been some smart writing of late about why - despite his obviously more robust conservative credentials and a resume that looks far more presidential - Washington Republicans give the appearance of being so much more open to the prospect of a Trump nomination than they are to Cruz. Jonathan Martin writes on the issue here...

If the cruz/beck ticket becomes the model for the future, we are doomed!

Beck has gone off the rails many times, but at least he is standing by the ONLY true Tea Party Conservative in the race.
“ONLY true Tea Party Conservative in the race.”
I don’t believe that any more. I used to, but I no longer do. Something is off about Cruz.
Lol...the guy has about 4 achievements.
In his first two years in the Senate, Senator Cruz has not only amassed a near-perfect voting record, he has become the leading conservative voice on a number of policy issues, spanning the full-spectrum of influence from fiscal to social to foreign policy matters. Whether itâs through floor speeches, media appearances, legislation and initiatives, or even harnessing the power of social media, Cruz has led the charge for the conservative movement in fights related to Obamacare, energy, guns, debt, immigration and foreign policy issues.
Cruz has made it clear that he did not come to Washington to make friends, and heâs kept good on his promise to fight even when it is not popular.[1] In what has been an unprecedented dynamic for a freshman senator, Cruz has become the most vocal leader on many issues, rather than maintain the traditional low-key profile.
While known for his work on domestic issues, he has also been a key voice for a traditional, conservative foreign policy â one which is robust against our enemies but not too interventionist. His work scuttling the IMF bailout, standing strong for Israel, and blocking an Iranian terrorist from obtaining a visa, serves as some of his greatest accomplishments.
Taken as a whole, aside for a few isolated issues, Cruz can always be counted on to not only act as a vote, but a robust voice for the conservative movement. -

If Glen Beck is the model we should follow I want NO PART in it.
You are quite right, unfortunately too many conservatives have become pissed off —and— afraid and have lost their heads and thrown in with the crony capitalist billionaire strongman with zero conservative credentials to back him up. I sure hope our side wakes up from this delusion before it’s too late.
You’re just not familiar with conservationism in DC.
Newt was going to be the model of the future and they destroyed him. What followed was a go-along, uni-party, establishment congress.
20 dark years later, along comes Ted Cruz who goes against the establishment, and the Democrats, GOPe and Trump try to destroy him.
What could possibly come next?
conservationism in DC., exists?
Must be the case.
Oh boy!
That’s absolutely meaningless!
Explain his vote for the Corker Bill to me please.
There may be no next time. That is why this election is so crucial. Trump will simply use tax payer dollars to line the pockets of corrupt politicians who are willing do his bidding...and his long record of leftist positions are the best indication of what he will be asking those politicians to do. All you have to do is pay attention to what he is promising Iowans to know which way the wind will blow should Donald Trump get in.
Unless Cruz breaks loose from Beck his brand is destroyed! Beck is a flamethrower and he won’t go quietly, IMO.
