Serious doubt in Illinois as to whether or not Cruz can run for President. First of many challenges.

This is what Cruz supporters fail to realize: It doesn’t MATTER if Cruz is eligible or not. Reality does not matter! Why should we all argue about it?
What matters is that Cruz is vulnerable and can be stopped cold through the court system, (if he beat Trump in the primary.) The RNC would do it, too. What? Are we going to march in the streets? This is why Jeb is still in it and seems so dang cocky at times. He thought Cruz would win.
The RNC would wait until the time was right, dragging the court case out until Sept or October, then bam. We’re all screwed, and what would we do about it?
THIS is the main reason I stopped supporting Cruz. He is being selfish to the nth degree; there’s NO other explanation for why he is willing to risk running and put our Republic in this precarious situation. No. Other. Reason. Pure selfish ambition.
It’s only Trump’s problem if he starts losing to Cruz. Otherwise, you’re right.
Trump is one of the few, besides the Democrats, who has legal standing to file this type of suit. This lawsuit by this Joyce guy will be denied because he has no standing; he’s just a Carson supporter. (Too bad it’s not Carson himself).
IF Cruz starts winning, and IF this lawsuit is denied, and IF the Dems don’t file suit (they won’t), then only Trump has standing to file. Thus, Trump must file the lawsuit if Cruz wins a few states. Trump can’t let the RINOs pull this crap.
I don’t think Cruz will start winning, but if he does the Dems will hit him with this. I hope Trump just lets it ride.

Of course, it’s not really taught in schools. If it ever had been taught in the schools it no longer was by the mid nineteen sixties.
Nonetheless, the clause is explained in any decent history book about the constitutional convention not written by recent leftists.
First, I agree with you that Cruz probably won’t start winning. Chances are very slim. In fact, I’m hoping for a clean sweep for Trump so we can send a message to these #@^%$ RINOs.
If Cruz DID start winning, the Dems would wait. What would be the motivation for the Dems to file a lawsuit before Cruz knocked Trump out of the way? It would be a twofer for them. Trump goes down and out, THEN they take Cruz down with a lawsuit once Trump was out of the way (i.e. beaten in primaries).
If Cruz was the one left standing and won the primary, he would be easy pickings for a lawsuit by the Dems (with RINOs’ full support, behind the scenes). (If Trump wins the primary, the Dems and RINOs have major problems and imo, they can’t beat him).
The ideal situation for the Dems and RINOs has always been for Cruz and Trump to destroy each other in the primary. They would love nothing better than to see Trump have to file a lawsuit that would cause major animosity and in-fighting among conservatives.
Yes, that’s why I think Trump needs to just let it ride. If he does anything it will cause major upset in the party and make Cruz a martyr. One of the other candidates could file saying it caused them harm, not being #2 in Iowa due to Cruz being in the race. That would be a compelling argument since being #2 could give them a boost going into the next states.

Also, this may be why Trump want to win Iowa so much. He knows that if this primary isn’t wrapped up soon, he may very well have to be the one who has to file a lawsuit against Cruz.

To be honest, I don’t know if he can now. I don’t know much about the declaratory judgments or whatever but I think they have to be filed before any suits are filed. Cruz should have been doing that instead of “cute” Fonzi videos.
I am a Trump supporter, however I like Cruz thing that scares me the most is he is the firewall between Trump and the GOP-E if Cruz is gone GOP-E will be rabid pit bulls after Trump to put their candidate JEB or Rubio in!! This situation really worries me!!!
Guaranteed the reverse is true. Cruz is deflecting nothing from Trump. Trump has and is being hit with everything but the kitchen sink. Cruz is hiding in his shadow.
