Porsche 911s from the 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s are solid collectibles. Some won't draw their original asking prices, but they are desirable cars. Model 928s are still drawing solid money. Other models as well.
BMW M series are very collectible, as are some of the other models. The older BMW 2500, 2800, M1s, Z1s, are all very sought after, especially in good condition.
The Mercedes 280 models are very sought after, as are the 300 SL series, and many, many others.
For Jags, certain models are considered pure classic, starting with the E Type (especially the convertibles). But others are considered very desirable. Even the XJs are going up in value. The Mark I and Mark II coupes are a subculture unto themselves. And the XK 120 and 150s are well into the $130K range. But even an solid 1990s XK is considered worth having. There have been a few TV programs recently about people giving them mini-restorations.
The Lexus? Not wanted. At all, as a "classic." Maybe it will be someday. Some Lexus folks "predict" that certain models will be "classics" someday (Lexus IS300, the LS400, etc). But that is all speculation. Lexus cars, when worn out, tend to end up in the junkyard.

I have driven a Tesla MS60 for over 10 months with 21,000 miles and live in Austin, Texas. I have had more range impact in cold weather than hot weather. In the hot weather, I do not have any noticeable range impact. I am averaging 362 WHr/mile and I have the 21” tires which reduces the range. I have driven from Austin to Houston with wife and three kids during the summer and made it to the Tesla chargers at the Galleria Mall with about 10 miles on the battery (190 miles each way). This was done last summer before any superchargers were operational. I drove somewhat conservatively at 60 to 65 mph to make sure I did not have any range issues.
My suggestion is get the 85KWHr battery; That is my only regret in how I configured my car.

Why Lexus shouldn't be regarded prestigious
- "Go anywhere around the world, and ask what the three most prestigious mainstream luxury brands are and you'll hear: Mercedes, BMW, and Audi (if mainstream wasn't part of the question, Porsche would be included)."
- Lexus doesn't belong on this list for a number of reasons.
Let's break it down:
1. Technological innovation
2. Engines
3. Heritage: What heritage? Born in 1989, and according to Lexus designers and engineers, ADMITTEDLY a copy of Mercedes
4. Performance brands....Where is Lexus' performance brand?
5. Awards
6. Average transaction prices
7. Owner demographics
8. Parent company/acquisitions
I don’t care if you believe me or not. Do you know how much hp(watts) an auto air conditioning requires? Do you know what the CD of a Tesla S is? Do you know how many hp (watts) it takes to propel a Model S at 75 mph?
I will save you some time, typical ac takes 6-8hp
A lightly loaded Model S takes roughly 10hp to run 60 mph with no wind or hills. 60 not 75 like our IS limits here. Remember the laws of phyisics concerning speed vs hp.
Good, because I don’t believe you based on the information I’ve been able to find.
The Tesla is affected by hot and cold weather, but not nearly as much as you claim based on your anecdotes and feelings.
Supposed to be some battery performance loss in extreme hot and cold. There’s an old youtube video of an LA to Vegas road trip during the summer. They turned off the AC for part of it to make sure they made it all the way. They did and had ample juice left to cruise the strip before a recharge.
If I could justify the cost, I’d have one.
So be it. If you got an extra 120 grand to buy a really nice golf cart go ahead, it is your money.
Thanks. That’s what I’ve heard. These cars aren’t up to the highest standards. From my view that’s a deal breaker.

I'd love to own one.
You are correct, because the cost to repair is astounding. And even if you are savvy and can do your own repairs, the new parts cost is astounding because very few of the retrofitters make competitive parts for those brands. And if you go to Pic-a-Part, it most likely the used part you found will have the same failure as your broken one.
Here’s what Car and Driver has to say about the model S 70D.
$84,000 as tested.

Which one is over 100k?
C&D has been bought and paid for by advertisers since the 60’s. Same with R&T.
About 11 W per square foot so 44kW. The 85 kWh Tesla would take 2.4 hours minimum assuming 80% charging efficiency. Basically it would tie up those panels for the day.
I have a 4kw system that produces surplus electricity for PG&E in the summer, and PG&E gives me back what I need on cloudy days and in the winter.
Whatever. If it is so great, disconnect from the grid.
Without government subsidies the price will go down - just like the cost of a college education if we got rid of the “free” money.
Might of been of been one of the early ones with the 40KWH battery. Tesla discontinued those models in relatively short order..
You have an excuse for everything, but nothing approaching fact to back up your claims.
You made the claim about a 120k golf cart. You go find it.
Why don’ t you look in your rectum, that will match your personality.
The last i heard the things cost over 100g’s. Now why don’t you go buy one, we opted for a Vehicle that will take us 400 miles per tank and i can fill it up in 5 minutes. And the only battery in it costs 100 bucks to replace, not 6-10 thousand and our powerplant lasts 250,000 miles.
Our 1200 mile round trips do not take a week, we got a dealer in every town for services, And we do not have to be an beta experiment for a manufacturer of a product he loses money on every sale. Oh ,good business practices you say?
Good day.
Good for you and your choice of car. A lot of people agree with you.
But that has nothing to do with your unsubstantiated claims about Tesla.
Your assignment: Write 100 times "The plural of 'anecdote' is not 'data'."
If you need a signed and sworn statement then you must provide the same from your Austin witness, which just being from austin should be enough to disqualify them.
I will stand by my witness and by the way, the average Model 7 is sold for around 105 grand. The do not like making them without all the options.
