It is because Hatch has been in DC too long (like many others) and has become nothing but an establishment Republican who has just gone along with the weak Republican leadership. To get elected, he is just like McCain, talks conservative, but one reelected, is just another GOPe who doesn’t fight.
Orrin Hatch was the lead person fighting for Clarence Thomas I watched the hearings. Specter and others did their part.
