Knife rights is having a good year. In Wisconsin, a reform bill to de-criminalize switchblades for concealed carry permit holders and police was determined to be an insufficient by the Assembly Committee on Criminal Justice and Public Safety. A strengthened reform bill, to include knife preemption and decriminalization for the State, was written and passed as a substitute amendment, by a bi-partisan vote of 8-2. The bill was passed by the full House on 27 October.
The bill number is AB 142. Yesterday, 20 January, the Senate passed the bill by unanimous voice vote. It is likely that Governor Walker will sign the bill. It brings Wisconsin knife law in line with the Wisconsin Constitution. Section 25 of the Wisconsin Constitution reads:

My ND CCP says “firearm and dangerous weapon”. That includes everything from brass knuckles to a switchblade, baton, etc.
It allows for a non-firearm advantage over a potential opponent in crowded venues.
"66.0409 (2) Except as provided in subs. (3) and (4), no political subdivision may 5enact or enforce an ordinance or adopt a resolution that regulates the sale, purchase, 6purchase delay, transfer, ownership, use, keeping, possession, bearing, 7transportation, licensing, permitting, registration, or taxation of any knife or any 8firearm or part of a firearm, including ammunition and reloader components, unless 9the ordinance or resolution is the same as or similar to, and no more stringent than, 10a state statute."
I thought the Wisconsin Supreme Court ruled the switchblade law unconstitutional on 2nd Amendment grounds. What I recall about that opinion was that the appellant raised the issue of unconstitutionality based on the right of self-defense in the Wisconsin Constitution, but the Court did not address that issue and only based the ruling on the Federal 2nd Amendment.
This proposed bill brings the statutes into conformity with that ruling, and should probably pass easily.
Indiana once had a prohibition against switchblade knives, but has since amended the statute to permit possession of switchblades. The law now only prohibits knives with spring-loaded ejecting blades, like the ones used by Russian Spetznaz guys.
This kind of law is way overdue. The nanny’s in the New York City and Life Magazine were totally responsible for the demonetization of knives for personal protection. Many of them thought it would be a small step to ban guns as well. It looks like the opposite is finally beginning to happen. Personal protection is a right and was a right even before the Constitution.
Can we have “my cookie looks like a gun” reform, too?
What would Mae West say to these developments?

I didn’t know there was such a thing as “knife control” yikes.
If they ever manage to clean up the guns in the hands of criminals, knives and cutting and blood will be everywhere, switchblade or not. Israel is seeing this now.
A switchblade is part of my daily carry. Kinda like the cherry on top of the .357 on my hip.
My pistol is more accessible and more deadly at a greater range than the automatic knife in my pocket. The knife is more a tool and my ‘last resort’ weapon.
Very messy and highly effective against humans but you gotta get up close and very personal.
(Archaic) Knife laws will get you in more trouble with the law than gun laws today.
Do a search for "knife control" and "Great Britain". The Libs in the UK are even going after kitchen knives.
No right to self-defense in the UK, though.
Which is what the Libs in the US want, also; including the 4 nutbags on the SCOTUS.
Congratulations!
Here in MD, their knife laws are almost unreadable.
A switchblade is considered a weapon
A person may not wear or carry a dangerous weapon of any kind concealed on or about the person.
(2) A person may not wear or carry a dangerous weapon, chemical mace, pepper mace, or a tear gas device openly with the intent or purpose of injuring an individual in an unlawful manner.
Huh?
So, I can own a switchblade and I can carry it non-concealed as long as I don’t intend to hurt someone.
Is a knife in my pocket with a clearly identified pocket clip concealed? Don’t know. Not to me it’s not.
Knife law revision passes Wisconsin Senate unanimously and is now on Walker’s desk for him to sign.

Wow i had to see if this was a joke. It isn’t. Wow. Knife laws. This is so wrong. The left will never stop. Up next, knives, American flags, American monuments..... they are just like sharia types, the list is endless for them.
Knife laws are no joke if you are victimized by someone enforcing them.
That is 60,000 people in New York City, alone, over the last decade.

I wasn’t saying it was a joke.
I know. You investigated and were informed.
I just wanted you to see how bad it is in some places in the U.S.
It just boggles my mind that this is *still* going on in NYC.
