Trump’s New York Values: Appoint Pro-Partial-Birth Abortion Judges, Like His Sister
Conservative HQ ^ | 1/18/2016 | Richard A. Viguerie

Posted on 01/18/2016 2:44:59 PM PST by justlittleoleme

One of the most important responsibilities the next president will be charged with is the appointment of a substantial number of federal judges – including as many as four Supreme Court Justices, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Antonin Scalia, Anthony Kennedy, and Stephen Breyer, who will all be into their eighties before the Trump and sisterend of the next president's first term.

Donald Trump’s approach to this weighty responsibility? Appoint someone like his partial-birth abortion advocate sister, a federal district court judge in New York, to the Supreme Court.

Back in August, Trump told National Review’s Mark Halperin and John Heilemann that he thought his sister, federal Judge Maryanne Trump Barry, would be a “phenomenal” Supreme Court justice.

Judge Maryanne Trump Barry is the author of one of those heated judicial decisions in favor of giving constitutional protection to partial-birth abortion. She called a New Jersey law against it a “desperate attempt” to undermine Roe v. Wade.

Prohibiting partial-birth abortion was, she wrote, “based on semantic machinations, irrational line-drawing, and an obvious attempt to inflame public opinion instead of logic or medical evidence.” It made no difference where the fetus was when it “expired” she concluded.

So pro-life conservatives who are thinking about voting for Donald Trump need to understand that what Judge Maryanne Trump Barry said was the right of abortionists to make a child “expire” by partially extracting her from the womb, sticking scissors in the back of her head, vacuuming out her brain, and crushing her skull to complete her extraction, is right there in the Constitution.

If unborn children could not be protected within the womb, could they at least be protected when partway out? That would be illogical, said Judge Maryanne Trump Barry.

But, as Ramesh noted, if the location of fetal death does not matter, then it could hardly matter if the child was all the way outside the womb. Laws against infanticide, too, must be dismissed as irrational line-drawing.

The intellectual architect of the Born-Alive Infants Protection Act, Hadley Arkes, also mentions Judge Maryanne Trump Barry’s decision in his book on the origin of that law, explaining that it was in part designed to head off the dangerous implications of such rulings. The Supreme Court eventually ruled that partial-birth abortion could be outlawed—but it did so by a margin of one.

Now imagine for a moment that President Donald Trump, faced with the opportunity to make an appointment to the Supreme Court, were to nominate his sister, something that in fairness he appeared to rule out “for the moment” or perhaps worse, that he asked her for her advice on who should be appointed?

That one vote margin against partial-birth abortion could disappear.

How many judges has Trump appointed? Oh none.

Who endorsed John Robers who single handedly gave us Obamacare? Ted Cruz

He isnt going to nominate his sister. You guys keep recycling this line every month looking for a reaction.

But yeah, Trump should have said “that judge sister of mine is a total c*nt”.

Trump IS pro-abortion [in cases of rape/incest], so why wouldn’t he?

So Trump gave props to his little sister? Wow. That’s just awful.

Of course, if had not have done so, the TDSers would claim that proved he lacked family values.

Donald Trump on Abortion

OnTheIssuesLogo
I am now pro-life; after years of being pro-choice:

Donald Trump shocked attendees at the conservative CPAC conference in February when he declared himself pro-life after years of supporting the pro-abortion position. Several months ago, when questioned about his position, Trump responded by saying the public "would be surprised" by his stance and, in an interview with Laura Ingraham from Fox News leading up to the conference, Trump characterized himself as "pro-life" and he repeated that apparent reversal when he told the audience at CPAC, "I am pro-life" and pledged to fight for the reversal of ObamaCare, which contains abortion funding loopholes.

As the 2012 race intensifies, pro-life advocates must call upon Donald Trump to further explain his stand on important pro-life issues like Supreme Court nominations and repeal of the pro-abortion Obama healthcare law.

I changed my views to pro-life based on personal stories:

Q: Evangelicals want to feel secure that they're going to have a nominee that's solid on those social issues.

A: One thing about me, I'm a very honorable guy. I'm pro-life, but I changed my view a number of years ago. One of the primary reasons I changed [was] a friend of mine's wife was pregnant, and he didn't really want the baby. He was crying as he was telling me the story. He ends up having the baby and the baby is the apple of his eye. It's the greatest thing that's ever happened to him. And you know here's a baby that wasn't going to be let into life. And I heard this, and some other stories, and I am pro-life.

Q: So those stories did change you, they came around and changed you?

A: They changed me. Yeah, they changed my view as to that, absolutely.

I am pro-life; fight ObamaCare abortion funding:

Billionaire Donald Trump told the Conservative Political Action Conference that he's thinking about running for president. His remarks drew lots of applause and cheers from the crowd, who will play a key role in grass-roots organizing for the eventual 2012 GOP presidential nominee. "I'm well acquainted with winning," Trump said. "That's what this country needs now."

This is Donald Trump’s Sister:

Barry was nominated by President Ronald Reagan[1] on September 14, 1983, to a seat on the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey vacated by Henry Curtis Meanor. She was confirmed by the United States Senate on October 6, 1983, and received her commission the next day.

A Republican, Barry was nominated to be a judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit by President Bill Clinton[1] on June 17, 1999, to replace H. Lee Sarokin, who had retired in 1996. President Clinton in 1998 had nominated Robert Raymar to the seat, but that nomination was never given a hearing by the Senate Judiciary Committee, and Raymar’s nomination expired at the end of that year. Clinton chose not to renominate Raymar to the Third Circuit seat during the next congressional term, and elected instead to nominate Barry.

Barry was unanimously confirmed by the United States Senate on September 13, 1999, and received her commission on September 22, 1999. “I am deeply honored and very grateful for the nomination,” Barry told the New Jersey Law Journal in 1999. “I am surprised I was approached on it. I assume that my record is good enough as a district court judge to be reached out to, and I’m glad that politics weren’t a priority here.”[2]

Barry’s reputation on the bench was that of a tough judge with strong command of her courtroom.[1] In 1989, while a district court judge in Essex County, New Jersey, she disapproved a plea bargaining deal that would have freed two county detectives accused of protecting a drug dealer, and forced the case to trial, where the detectives were convicted and received jail terms. She also presided over the conviction of Louis Manna, the Genovese crime family boss accused of plotting to assassinate rival John Gotti.[1]

In January 2006, Barry testified in support of the appointment of fellow Third Circuit Judge Samuel Alito to the Supreme Court.

On June 30, 2011, Barry assumed senior status and was ultimately succeeded by Judge Patty Shwartz.

But keep those lies and attacks coming, we need more support for the other candidates...I see where Bush is 5 points back of Cruz and Rubio is in third place...but we need more supporters so come on let those ‘unhinged’ Cruz bots attack more!!!

Respects Reagan
Is pushing private sector move to expand current payers
Will lower most tax brackets and raise one where those people will probably avoid them anyway
Is no longer pro-choice and hasn’t been for years
Hasn’t lied to me about his record as Cruz has
Is currently taking action to end Hillary Clinton’s political career
Has presented a pro gun platform, encourages folks to use their CCW, and has raised the possibility of a national CCW
His followers know his past, realize that’s not what is in his platform, and know the facts about Ted’s Leftist past
Offers a Conservative platform that provides as many details as anyone else has, for some more
Plans to overturn Obamacare and replace it with a private sector solution.
Has donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to Republicans as well. If donations to them didn’t make him Conservative, donations to the other two don’t make him a Leftist. When people have state, national, and international business interests, they need access. Trump had 22,500 families relying on his business being successful

Oh goody another inaccurate misleading chart; does Isara know about it yet?

Its really not in the spirit of this site to cherry pick and twist out of context to make the points you want to make despite their inaccuracy.

Why not go to the source and see what Trump really said, make up your own mind rather than march in line like a good robot with a handy dandy chart...

http://www.ontheissues.org/Donald_Trump.htm From 2000-2015 check it out, does he really reverse himself or is it a evolution based on experience, personal & National?

That makes perfect sense:

Trump is “absolutely pro-life” AND also believes his sister, who supports partial-birth abortion and opposes Born-Alive Infant Protection laws, would make a “phenomenal” Supreme Court Justice.

That should be the most important issue in this election. I know that illegals have dominated the talking points almost without interruption until Cruz got close to Trump and then he did what he said he’d have to do...take him out at any cost. So, now the issue is birtherism. What a distraction! Truly nothing else.

If we elect another moderate or liberal, there is NO saving America, period.

And Trump’s real position on illegals? Well, I guess we should be able to take his own’s word for it: AMNESTY. Granted he’d do it a little different than Rubio, but it ends up being the same thing. Trump will send them all out, only let the non-criminals back in. Rubio will keep them, but send the criminals out. NO DIFFERENCE! Amnesty is amnesty.

Trump may bring a few more jobs to the economy, but to what good if we are going to face God’s judgment due to legalizing abortion, same-sex marriage, and who knows what else? They are preparing cases to take away the status of children as minors so that pedophilia will be legal, then beastiality, then every other perversion under the sun. With Kennedy voting mostly with the liberals on the court, they basically have a majority on all the wrong issues. We MUST have a correction in the courts to hold the line, and possibly even turn back some of the recent evil decisions.

I continue to pray that America elects a godly man this time around, that we are able to stem the tide of corruption, lawlessness and ungodliness. I’m not sure that America will ever truly repent, but maybe having a godly man would buy America some time before her destruction.
