“What is amazing is that so many people on this forum enthusiastically support the one candidate that has publicly admitted to being “corrupt” by paying off politicians. They are willing to overlook that as “just business”, but if anyone else takes donations, then they are corrupt, bought and paid for... The hypocrisy is overwhelming. “

I disagree.

As a businessman, Trump’s job was to make as much money as possible for his company. Are you corrupt if you take advantage of others corruption? I see it more as him fulfilling his responsibilities.

And I’m not even sure “corruption” is the right word. Whether we like it or not, politicians grant favors based on campaign contributions. That’s the way the system works, and has no doubt ALWAYS worked. It’s inherently corrupt, if you want to look at it that way. Trump was just taking advantage of the system.

And here is an example of the hypocrisy. Yes, if you participate in the corruption, you are also corrupt. The fact is that Trump has admitted to being a participant in the very activities people condemn in politicians - and for the purpose of obtaining special treatment from the politicians involved. Everyone wants to condemn a politician for accepting donations from "crony capitalists", but many seem perfectly happy to support the "crony capitalist" making the donations...

So tell me - if Trump has readily admitted that he has paid ("donated") money to politicians to get a benefit for his companies and for himself, why shouldn't we believe he will take actions as president to benefit himself and his companies? Do his actions and his motives suddenly become pure because he gets elected? No one seems to believe that about any other elected official...

If Trump was elected he wouldn’t be working to benefit himself or his company. He’s made that clear.

As I said, if you want to consider contributions for favors as “corruption,” then the system is corrupt and has been so as long as I can remember. Certainly Trump is correct when he points out that someone like Cruz is beholden to the people giving millions of dollars to his super-PACs. Are we to think that he isn’t?

As I see it, Trump is least corrupt of them, and the least corruptible because you cannot buy someone who neither needs or will accept your money.

“Ted has posted his ‘Canadian Birth Certificate’ and the Constitution says you have to be ‘natural born’ which means he needs to be born on AMERICAN soil, the last time I looked, Canada is not AMERICAN soil.... “

No, Natural born does NOT mean you have to be born on American soil. Again, our understandings differ on this. Hopefully this will be proven once and for all soon by a court so that we can get on to talking about real issue that are important to making our country well again!

If Trump was elected he wouldn't be working to benefit himself or his company. He's made that clear.

And you take him at his word, even though he freely admits to paying off politicians to benefit himself and his companies. That requires a great deal of faith...

Certainly Trump is correct when he points out that someone like Cruz is beholden to the people giving millions of dollars to his super-PACs.

Why? People can certainly give in the hopes that the candidate will support their position, but there is no guarantee of a quid pro quo, which is what is being implied here. And Donald has admitted that his donations were intended as a quid pro quo.

As I see it, Trump is least corrupt of them,

And as I see it, he is the most corrupt of them. I guess we disagree.

At the time Cruz got his hands on slightly more than a million dollars....borrowing a big chunk from his margin account at G/S......he was whining about he and his wife having to liquidate their entire family savings (of slightly more than $1 million) to fuel a come-from-behind win in the Republican primary.

The Cruz tale has become part of an invented campaign narrative of a populist, scrappy Mr. Cruz putting everything on the line to overcome a wealthy establishment opponent.
