This Donald Trump crowd shot from Florida will wow you
WaPo ^ | Chris Cillizza

Donald Trump took his front-running campaign for the Republican presidential nomination to Pensacola, Fla., on Wednesday night. And, holy cow, did people come out in droves to see him.

Here's a photo of the crowd taken by WaPo's own Jenna Johnson.

*snip*

Trump's campaign claimed it gave out 20,000 tickets; the arena holds 11,500 people. According to Jenna's reporting, there were "at least 11,000" in attendance and "several thousand more were turned away."

Large crowds are the rule, not the exception, at this point for Trump. He had 8,000 people in Lowell, Mass., earlier this month; more than 2,000 showed up in Burlington, Vt., -- not exactly a conservative enclave -- to hear Trump speak last week.

I've written a lot about crowd sizes this election and how they remain an uncertain indicator of actual support. But, Trump's ability to draw thousands and thousands of people to hear him speak this close to actual voting -- we are 19 days from the Iowa caucuses -- suggests to me that the enthusiasm and passion he has sparked among a certain segment of the GOP base isn't going anywhere any time soon.

Is this the rally the media claimed no one showed, and showed pictures of a barely-there crowd the other day?

Republicans are going to have to ask themselves the question about Trump: ‘Do we want a candidate who could be in a mental hospital in two years?’ That’d be a big problem. It’d be a very precarious one for Republicans because he’d be running and then he would break down at some point. You don’t want to be running and have that kind of thing over your head.

I’d hate to see something like that get in his way. But a lot of people are talking about it and I know that even some mental health professionals have concerns, the fact that he shows clear signs of mental instability and could break down at any point.

Here’s what I think I’d do: I’d go and seek a full psychiatric screening if I was Donald. You go see a psychiatrist. You go to a doctor to ask for what’s called a psychological screening. You go in seeking a clean bill of psychiatric health from the doctor, even if you think you’re doing just great. That’s part of the problem with mental illness, it’s hard to detect in yourself. Donald could go right in, do it quickly. It can go quickly. Clean bill of health, very good.

BHO got the same kind of campaign reception, and the press swooned. Trump just gets derision.

Say what you will about Trump, but he’s been able to establish a real rapport with regular Americans. And he continues to prove the critics and naysayers wrong.

Crowds are impressive. I just wish that I could delude myself into believing that this one-time Democrat socialist could right the ship of state’s dramatic decline. I can’t.

Why do you think Trump is any more “Mental” than any other candidate? i mean seriously, how about Hillary, or the Jebster? A lot of these candidates I think have mental issues. At least Trump is speaking up for the American nation and our borders and our national interests.

“But a lot of people are talking about it and I know that even some mental health professionals have concerns”

Unless you are attempting satire, you must be posting this from some type mental institution.

Why are you saying this? Do you have any information that would indicate Trump’s almost crazy?

I like what he’s saying... he may not be the guy to do what he says, but he’s driving the debate. So far, “crazy like a fox.”

And, I have to add, neither Obama, Clinton, nor Sanders impress me as being psychologically balanced.

The Donald is the candidate the establishment should love. He’s attracting Democrats, just another reason for conservatives to be suspicious of his candidacy.

Sounds like a good plan. You should do it.;-)

I’m not saying Trump is mentally ill. I’m just hearing it from others. I’m trying to help him out here, he could fix this real easily. If Trump is mentally ill, we don’t want that getting in the way in the general election.

“...that this one-time Democrat socialist could right the ship of state’s dramatic decline. I can’t.”

Gives the impression he’s going to clean house but what will the clean house look like?

IMHO
