Cotton: Iran taking Navy boats 'humiliating'
The Hill ^ | 1/12/16 | Jesse Byrnes

Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) on Tuesday evening ripped the Obama administration over its handling of Iran, saying the seizure of two U.S. Navy ships was "humiliating" to the nation and President Obama.

"This kind of openly hostile action is not surprising," Cotton said during an appearance on CNN's "Situation Room" shortly after news emerged that the two ships and 10 U.S. sailors had been captured.

In a statement, Cotton called for the president to demand that Iran release the sailors immediately. If Iran fails to release the U.S. sailors, he said the Iran nuclear deal should be nullified.

On CNN, Cotton said he didn't think it was "coincidental" that Iran had seized the ships hours before President Obama's final State of the Union address. CNN had reported the sailors may be in Iran overnight.

"It's humiliating for Barack Obama and therefore the United States to have American sailors held hostage during his final State of the Union," Cotton said.

U.S. officials have said that they are monitoring the situation closely and that Iran has assured Obama administration officials that the sailors are safe and would be returned promptly.

From Real Clear Politics, Sept 10, 2015...

"In a 2014 New Yorker interview, Obama said his goal was to create a 'new equilibrium' in the Middle East.

In the short run, at least, his signature diplomatic undertaking can be counted on to bring more violence to this volatile region.

The Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, as the [Obama-Putin Iran deal] agreement is formally known, provides the world's leading state sponsor of terrorism an infusion of somewhere in the neighborhood of $100 billion of unfrozen assets and a great deal more of continuing revenues as businesses and governments around the world rush to profit from oil-and-gas-rich Iran's reintegration into the world economy.

The agreement relaxes the international isolation of the Islamic Republic and ratifies Tehran's status as a nuclear threshold state. And it relieves restrictions on Iran's acquisition of weapons, including ballistic missiles. ..."

If Iran fails to release the U.S. sailors, he said the Iran nuclear deal should be nullified targeted nuclear strikes will rein on Tehran.

Fixed it for Cotton

Iran is letting them go at first light. Seems kind of silly to have them go out at night when they already had engine trouble to begin with. This has already been discussed between the Ambassadors. Unfortunately Cotton is behind on this complaint.

I'm hoping and expecting that the sailors will be released, but you have to admit that this is pretty funny.

Perhaps Obama is really having the empty chair tonight in case one of his missing sailors shows up.

“I double dog dare any Republican to walk up and put a sailor hat in Obama’s empty chair tonight.”

That empty chair will not be as famous as the one featured by Clint Eastwood. Kind of makes me wonder who came up with that one.
