Franklin Graham: It's open season on Christians in America
Fox News.com ^ | January 12, 2016 | Todd Starnes

Franklin Graham is a voice crying in the wilderness.

"I believe we are perilously close to the moral tipping point for the survival of the United States of America," Graham wrote in Decision magazine. "I refuse to be silent and watch the future of our children and grandchildren be offered up on pagan altars of personal pleasure and immorality."

The Supreme Court has already redefined marriage. The nation has become a killing field for Islamic radicals. And Christians have become targets for practicing their First Amendment rights.

"There now exists deep-seated antagonism and hostility toward Christianity in every seat of power in this nation - government, media, courts and education," Graham wrote. It has become open season on Christians."

Instead of ignoring the rotting of America's culture, the president and CEO of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association has decided to do something about it.

And the blue light special of souls has become a primary means of making decisions in this election.

God have mercy on them.

Let’s have Christians and Jews declared “endangered species” and then the government will go all out to defend them!

‘“The only hope for America is not the Democratic Party and it’s not the Republican Party,” Graham told me. “The only hope for America is God.”’

Amen!

And FR’s apparent favorite candidate shrugs his shoulders over a county clerk going to jail for her faith and says “Maybe that isn’t the right job for her”.

It’s Christian’s fault that they are where they are today.

At some point between 1976-1988 they decided to muck up Christianity in America with slimy televangelists, megachurches, pop-music, corny theme parks, and all manner of plastic crap that bit them in the rear by the 90s as people could not find God in the mess, and all of the hypocrisy was rightfully seized upon by those on the left.

There was a chance after 9-11 to regain lost ground, but no one learned their lesson.

Now churches have rainbow flags out front. The biggest “churches” aren’t really even Christian and are more just weekly pep rallies. And so-called preachers live in million dollar mansions, while running phone banks looking for old ladies to turn over their money in exchange for “blessings”.

And people wonder why there is such a negative attitude towards Christianity?

Say what you want about Islam, but that’s one religion (cult) that doesn’t compromise.

I look forward to the further separation of tares from the wheat in the months & years to come.

The wolves will expose themselves and the sheep called by HIS NAME may suffer, but it’s not a lost cause.

On that linked article, the anti Christians are out in full force on the message board. Looks like a war on Christians to me.

How much do liberals hate Christians? Liberals would rather be killed or enslaved by Muslims than see Christianity flourish. That is how much they hate you. They will die for that hatred if they have to.

Let’s see. Liberals HATE Christians because Christians say they should live a pious life.

Muslims will kill them if they don’t follow muslim rules, but that’s okay. It’s just their culture.

Who’s nuts here?

Sounds like Matthew 13:24-30, or Matthew 25:31-46 to me. Maybe, just maybe Jesus knew what He was talking about when He asked will He find faith when He comes back...

“The Supreme Court has already redefined marriage.”

Maybe for those who get their meaning of marriage by whatever definition the state happens to be using for itself at any one time.

Well, isn't that what the pope and his 39,000+ encyclical keeps saying so clearly?

There is too much truth in what you say, yet it is those (a relative remnant) who most strongly testify to esteem of Scripture and moral values and are the least likely to compromise that the Left hates the most, while seeing the liberal versions of Christianity - which it is not - as potential or real allies.

There are problems on many sides concerning this discussion. VanDeKoik is right in that the church in the last 40-50 yrs. stopped being the salt and light Christ called us to be. Instead of giving our time, energy and money to the work of the ministry (binding up the broken hearted, caring for widows and orphans in their distress, preaching the acceptable year of the Lord vs chasing the American dream and living for self) we have imbibed in the cultural Kool Aid - hence the world sees only the negative side of our beliefs (don’t drink, chew and go with girls that do) instead of the poured out life that really costs us something and can only be lived if we are vitally connected to the source of power through obedience to the Holy Spirit.

The other half is what is recorded in many places in scripture (like Romans 1 and II Tim. 3) which indicate that evil increases in the last days and that our enemies arise from within our midsts - money preachers, phony laughing revivals, women ordained, gay clergy, pedophiles and adulterers in our church leadership. We are the last church - Laodicea = people’s opinions is its basic meaning. Luke warm, rich and comfortable. At ease in Zion with no fire and no power and totally lacking in discernment.

The world will always hate the church because it hates the truth and love “the lie” but that is what we are called to - faithfulness in the face of a hostile world. True believers will count the cost and pay it for their love of the Savior and for those few who will come to faith.

Roman_War_Criminal is also correct. Christ is not coming back for a fat, ugly, drunk, promiscuous bride with smeared make-up and a wart on her nose. Judgement must begin at the house of the Lord - the Jew first and also the believing gentiles. “If the righteous scarcely be saved, where will the ungodly and the sinner appear?” Persecution always cleans up the body of Christ. It separates those who profess from those who possess his Spirit. Those who have oil in their lamps and are ready, watching for the Bridegrooms coming.

And the blue light special of souls has become a primary means of making decisions in this election. God have mercy on them.

I caught up with Graham just after his inaugural prayer gathering in Des Moines. More than 2,000 people turned out in frigid weather – to petition the Almighty.

“If a candidate showed up – we’re not going to recognize them,” Graham said. “We’re not going to give them a microphone.” That’s because “Decision America Tour” is not about politics. “It’s trying to lead this nation in prayer, confessing the sins of our country, asking for God’s forgiveness and encouraging Christians to get engaged in the political process,” he told me.

“The younger pastors – so many are caught up in the pop culture, and the pastor in a church is more about being cool,” he said. “We’re beginning to put theology in the back seat and I’m concerned about the church.”

Sounds like we need more of such "blue light specials of soul." That the typical superficial nature of "crusade" evangelism is due to the typical superficial nature of the people, as well as too often the lack of convicting preaching, versus the original Christian mass evangelism of Acts 2. But had that multitude been typical Westerners then they would have made the Corinthians look good.

Well that needed to be said! As well as where the unGodly and the sinner will appear, which is not merely being separated from God for eternity, as is typically all that is said about eternal punishment. But may God always be my highest object of spiritual affection, object of allegiance, or source of security, and manifest Him to the world.

In “progressive”/liberal/socialist world the state IS god. Often the “dear leaders”(Obama?) of the state demand near worship from their subjects. The state is sovereign, the subject(not citizen) is subservient. This is 180 opposite from the Founders and their Constitutional vision... where the individual is sovereign and the state subservient. The Judeo-Christian faith is what the Constitution was built on... that puts it at odds with the socialist ideology. So Judeo-Christian principles are by definition hostile to the “one-size-fits-all” socialist state... so they must be diminished or destroyed (for we are “infidels” sotospeak). In Islam religion and state are ONE... explaining (IMHO) the strange affection socialists have for it, in spite of (because of?) its brutality to all “infidels” and those who seek separation from the “collective”.
