Wow, if looking forward to people going nuts from a Trump win can make you that mad, I’m glad to have you as my enemy.

I will have the popcorn ready for your own meltdown. Heh, heh.

It’s extremely rare there isn’t someone with a case of butthurt when the pie gets sliced.

You are correct. I found an older article that goes into further detail and it sounds like Fred Sr. did not want the money going to his ex-daughter in law, because her children were minors at the time of drafting Fred Sr’s will.

It’s about wishing FReepers dead, moron. It has nothing to do with Trump.

If my nephew was suing me, am I going to pay for his baby’s care or expect him to pay for his baby’s care? He’s got the money to sue me, after all. Back then, the courts forced hospitals to provide care to everyone - money/insurance or no money/insurance. So a lack of money did not kill the baby. If the hospital killed the baby because Trump’s nephew did not have money, the nephew would be suing the hospital.

My father in law and my own dad wrote their wills in a way that the estate did not pass on to their children’s surviving spouses. It does not seem odd to me. Unless there was bad blood, I am sure we would have aided grandchildren not in the will because of the death of a heir.

Trump does not pretend to be a nice guy and I don’t think any president is an all around nice guy. I think you have to be a bit egotistical and crazy to run for president. Some are shocked when they find out our presidents are not really nice guys. I’m not.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO...that story is about IVANKA, who didn't get blocks, because she is a girl. So she took her brother's blocks to build a bigger and better building, at age 6 of something like that, than her brothers had.

The family seems to have gotten over it, since the nephew in question was quoted in print in 2013 publicizing a fund-raiser for the disabled at one of The Donald's golf courses. Seems the Trump family members may be more forgiving than many of the haters on this Forum.

The senior Trumps (Donald and siblings) extended the nephew 100% of medical expenses from the start, but the nephew then turned and sued to overturn the will of Fred Sr, which is what occasioned the rift. Threatening to take away the health insurance was an opening move in a chess game that did, indeed, result in a settlement. In the meantime, the Trump healthcare plan did continue to fund the child's treatments. At least one newspaper account quoted the nephew and his sister as saying they could afford their own health insurance, but were angry that their father had forfeited his inheritance due to chronic alcoholism and wanted their grandfather Fred Sr's will changed; Donald was astounded that they sued instead of coming to talk to him to work out their issues. Donald was not the only person with input -- his two sisters and brother also were party to the decisions made, and one of the sisters is a Federal judge.

There is more than one side to a story. There's news. And then there's gossip. None of you fine people were there.

This story is very misleading, as was the New York Times blog story that it was based on. Donald's brother Freddy had two children: Fred III and Mary. When Fred, Sr. made up his will, Freddy had already died. He made it clear that he wanted Freddy's children to receive only what each of his other grandchildren were to receive ($200,000). This is how the will was written (Donald was not the one who decided this, regardless of what some reporters now want to allege without any proof whatsoever). His sister, Judge Maryanne Trump, a legal scholar, reviewed over this decision with Fred, Sr. It was what he wanted. When Fred, Sr. died, Fred III almost immediately had a child, and that child soon started having seizures. Donald and his remaining siblings said they would pay for the expensive health care for the baby.

However, in the meanwhile, Fred III and Mary sued Donald and his siblings, saying that they should receive as much as Freddy would have had he still been alive and not just what the other grandchildren got. They also falsely claimed that the will had been written when Fred Sr. was suffering from dementia, when it was actually written years before he came down with dementia.

Once the suit was brought, Donald and his siblings wanted to stop paying for the baby's health care, knowing that Fred III was rich enough to pay for his child's care himself. The judge in the case actually made Donald and the other siblings continue the payments, until a settlement was made. The NYT article actually made it sound like Trump cut off his grand-nephew's treatments, which was entirely not true. He just thought that he shouldn't pay for his well-to-do nephew's child's care when his nephew was suing him and his siblings and challenging his father's express wishes. There is no way the nephew and niece could have expected the people they were suing to keep paying for their health care. Why should they? The child wasn't hurt at all; his coverage was never stopped for a moment. This is just the press being very misleading again.

It is Donald Trump's 2nd cousin, his father's grandchild.

The child whose medical insurance is under discussion is not a cousin; he is Donald's great-nephew, the son of Donald's nephew and grandson of Donald's older brother. The child is the great-grandchild of Donald's father.

“Donald Trump admits cutting off medical treatment for his nephew’s sick baby”

What a B.S., patently false title. This child never had his treatment cut off by anyone at any point, and Trump certainly never admitted to anything like this. Saying that he wanted the child’s wealthy parents to pay for the treatment rather than himself and his siblings is hardly cutting anyone’s treatment off. They want people to think Trump harmed a child. How outrageous. They also, without a shred of evidence, want people to think Trump tampered with his father’s will (as if he could—Fred, Sr. was an extremely hard willed man by all accounts). I find this sort of yellow journalism so disgusting I can hardly express my feelings about it.

Read the article. Other siblings were part of this “cutting” off so all were upset and the insurance was not just cut off to the child but the family for suing when no will had ever given them anything. Apparent creed on nephew’s part. But all must have been resolved as they were all buddy buddy in 2013.
