Donald Trump gloats after massive Macy's job cuts
The Business Insider ^ | 1/7 | Colin Campbell

Trump had a high-profile feud with Macy's shortly after he launched his presidential campaign in June with a fiery campaign speech in which he accused the Mexican government of sending rapists and murderers across the border.

Macy's was among several corporations to sever financial ties with Trump amid the resulting firestorm. The store said it would phase out its Trump-branded ties, dress shirts, and "Success" fragrance.

Trump responded by calling for a boycott of the store and retweeted his supporters who said they were cutting up their Macy's credit cards.

It's nice the Donald is happy about this, but the bigger issue is the fact that Holiday sales in general have disappointed.

The meltdown in China (suspending trading 2 times in 3 sessions) is coming home to roost. With global terror fears, falling oil prices, and Fat Boy in North Korea getting hungry and jealous over ISIS' level of attention, we'd better figure it out fast or it'll be 2008 (and worse) really soon. Toss in the uncertainty of the coming US election and by October, the economy may just hand the election to Trump.

Coercive PC companies should die. A certain soup company comes to mind, among others.

If Trump wins there will be a whole lot more at play than the economy “handing it to him”.

It’s nice to have a Presidential candidate who gloats when Americans lose their jobs.

Yeah good for Trump, sucks for all the Americans going on unemployment that had nothing to do with his feud.

Trump likes to say he never declared Bankruptcy

" Stop saying I went bankrupt. I never went bankrupt but like many great business people have used the laws to corporate advantage-smart! "

Since Trump has no voting record to vet, all we have is his business record.

Go find the vendors, suppliers and employees who got screwed when 4 businesses he controlled filed Bankruptcy.

* 1991, Trump's Taj Mahal in Atlantic City

* 1992, Trump Plaza Hotel in Atlantic City

* 2004, Trump Hotels and Casinos Resorts

* 2009, Trump Entertainment Resorts

...just saying.

They were all Chapter 11 restructurings, which lets a company stay in business while shedding debt it owes to banks, employees and suppliers.

Agree . . . pretty stupid to gloat about this.

Just let it go and let the voters make up their own minds on the linkage. Doesn’t do him any good with the independent voters he needs to win if nominated.

No one likes a sore loser OR a sore winner.

Before the nasty comments are directed at Trump for “causing the bad times at Macy’s” may I point out that the basic tactic of the “inclusive”(/s) LEFT is to call out for total boycotts against anyone or any group that has the gall to disagree with it.
If THEIR boycott hurts any business they trumpet it to the heavens. The “progressives” revel in their destruction of a little family bakery or florist, so I guess they must admire this success.
The ac swings BOTH ways.

You know as well as I do that if XYZ company does something anti-conservative and we all say we are going to boycott them, and then their sales go down, we all give a collective cheer and no one chastises us (within FR) for the jobs lost.

Same thing. Trump said something nearly all of us agree with. Macy’s dropped him for saying it. Trump urges a boycott. Macy’s sales drop. We should cheer that a liberal company took it in the chops.

I know that I didn’t shop at Macy’s this year after their stand. Maybe the laid-off employees can find work at Hobby Lobby...

Macy’s has been going downhill for years. I doubt Trump’s call for a boycott did very much of the damage. I haven’t set foot in a Macy’s in I don’t know how long ... way before l’affair Trump.

“Gloating over large job cuts.”

As the company, and liberals, gloated over the company banning him?

Saw nothing in the article saying he was “happy” or “gloating.”

Saw nothing in the article from him at all except a tweet noting the effect of the boycott:

“Macys was one of the worst performing stocks on the S&P last year, plunging 46%. Very disloyal company. Another win for Trump! Boycott.”

That was “gloating”?

Not that Yahoo News would be deliberately mislead or be provocative or lie. . .

We closed our Macy’s here years ago. Putting a Macy’s in a rather low income area was dumb.

Yeah right. He is real leader. He would rather pretend he is right and consequential than act presidential. God help us all if he wins.
He is a petty, vindictive little man. You think he is a winner?
I see an ill informed man with not as much political knowledge as freepers. He has no foundation for anything but intimidating and screwing others to make money.
He still sings high praises for liberals that most conservatives claim to detest and trashes good men like Scalia. His solution to world problems follows a pattern - make so and so fix it.
If you think for one second he would appointment conservatives to SCOTUS or any other court you need to do some research.

It's a pretty safe bet that the Clinton team has already found them, and probably already filmed campaign ads starring the most downtrodden of them.
