For more than a decade boys and girls at Glenview Elementary School would start the day by gathering on the playground to recite the Pledge of Allegiance. The children of Haddon Heights, New Jersey would conclude their patriotic service by saying "God bless America."
It was a tradition birthed by two kindergarten teachers in the aftermath of the Muslim terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001 - a way to honor those who lost their lives on that terrible day.
But that tradition ended Monday - thanks to the American Civil Liberties Union of New Jersey.
The school's principal sent a letter to parents advising them that "the Administration has decided to discontinue the official endorsement of reciting 'God bless America' at the end of the morning Pledge of Allegiance.'"
ACLU-NJ legal director Ed Barocas said reciting the phrase "God bless America" is unconstitutional, the Courier-Post reports.

The ACLU was founded and still runs on principles of the Communist Party.
They were and are.
And they are an excellent example of how absurdly tolerant Americans are.
We need a President who will tell the ACLU and allied groups exactly what they need to be told and it ain’t Jeb Bush.
I agree. We tolerate any sin, and refuse to humble ourselves even a little. And little by little, we reap what we have sown.
If I was the parent of one of those children, I’d tell them to do it on their own...The ACLU could not legally stop that...

It was probably the principal’s idea all along and he just used the aclu to push it. Just a guess.
If I was the principal once a week I would play a video of the U.S. congress reacting after the 911 attack
Where they stood en masse on the steps if the U.S. Capitol and sang “ God Bless America”

With respect, I would substitute the adjective 'cowardly.'
ACLU, FFR et al are toothless except for the fear they have sowed among far too many. Even with Federal funding, they could not begin to staff, support, etc. the lawsuits they threaten and that assumes a) the lawsuits would not be dismissed by a court and b) they would win.
There are far too many who are far too overdue to be told 'No.' Of course, this enrages lefties and freaks who want to use the wrong bathroom but a firm, simple, unyielding response would work wonders without the need for major political and/or legal restructuring.

I think your guess is absolutely correct...public school administrators are like church bishops-they don’t want to hear about, nor have to address, any rocking of any boats...
The proper response to the ACLU is a teeth breaking assault against every representative of that organization that starts some sh*t with someone.
We should literally be beating these people in the face until they shut up.
And, with luck, the students should learn an actual real-life lesson from this.
